Tucker Ashford had 5 hits and scored 3 times as the Kimberton Firefighters
defeated the Eagle Eagles 10-5 at Hickory Park.
 
Skip Lockwood(5-5) came through for Rich Pawlak with an excellent relief
stint.  He allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk in 3 and 2/3 innings and racked up 4
strikeouts.  The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times.
 
Don Sutton(15-9) took the loss.  Kimberton scored big getting 8 runs off him
in 7 and 2/3 innings.

Third baseman Mike Schmidt homered and had 3 RBI and Jim Barr was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Bentley
Stadium where the Elverson Squires beat the Glenmoore Stableboys 11-5.
 
Elverson had 5 runs cross the plate in the 4th inning when they had 4 base
hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Steve Garvey who silenced the
stadium when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run.  Elverson managed
13 hits in their victory.  
 
The victory was credited to Barr(14-15) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. Bo McLaughlin(3-7) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Jon Matlack tossed a fine 2 hitter as the Devault Dynamiters outscored the
Chester Springs club 6-1.
 
Matlack(15-9) escaped virtually unscathed against the Chester Springs hitters.
He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.
Devault rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon.  
 
The losing pitcher was Jerry Reuss(10-13).  He allowed 3 runs and 9 hits in 6
and 1/3 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT GUTHRIESVILLE

The Guthriesville Golddiggers got by the Honey Brook Beekeepers at Hopewell
Field.  The final score was 4-2.
 
Guthriesville went ahead for good in the 5th inning plating an isolated run
utilizing 2 base hits.  For the game Guthriesville out-hit Honey Brook 11-4.
 
The win was credited to Joe Coleman(1-0) who went 4 and 1/3 innings allowing
no runs. Coleman got help from Ken Forsch who earned his 21st save.  Jerry
Koosman(13-8) ended up with the loss.  He allowed 11 hits and 6 walks in 7
and 2/3 innings.  
 
MARSHALLTON AT LIONVILLE, 1st

Bruce Kison came through with a solid 9 innings as the dominant Lionville team
won a dandy at Foster Field over the Marshallton Mad Hatters, 1-0.
 
Lionville scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Ted
Simmons doubled.  Two outs later Joe Torre came to bat and was walked
intentionally.  Hozay Morales then laced a single giving Lionville the win
much to the delight of the home town crowd.  Both teams ended up with 4 hits
on the afternoon.  
 
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Kison(15-5). Brent Strom(14-6) was
tagged with the loss.  He allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.  
 
MARSHALLTON AT LIONVILLE, 2nd

At Foster Field the Marshallton Mad Hatters easily handled the Lionville club
5-1.
 
Lionville never recovered after Marshallton took the lead in the 2nd inning
plating one baserunner.  Marshallton banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.
 
Gary Nolan(12-10) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 and 2/3 innings. Rawly
Eastwick gained credit for his 40th save.  Randy Jones(25-9) was hit with the
loss.  He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 walk.
