In a game at French Creek Park the seemingly unstoppable Guthriesville
Golddiggers got by the Elverson Squires 4-1.
 
In the top of the 4th inning Guthriesville scored 3 runs when they came up
with 3 base hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Lou Brock who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled clearing all
three ducks off the pond.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as
neither team was able to score again.  
 
Steve Rogers(9-14) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Ken
Forsch gained credit for his 25th save.  Bob Forsch(7-10) was the losing
pitcher.  He allowed Guthriesville 4 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings of work.  
 
GLENMOORE AT MARSHALLTON

Rawly Eastwick(6-11) shut down the Glenmoore Stableboys hitters at Four Dogs
Field in 10 innings.  The Marshallton Mad Hatters came away with a 1-0 
victory.
 
Neither team scored in the first nine innings.  Finally, Marshallton pulled
the game out in the 10th inning.  Pete Lacock doubled.  After an out was
recorded, Bill Buckner stepped in and he delivered a base-hit making
Marshallton the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Marshallton had 7 hits for the night.  
 
John Montefusco(15-12) took the loss.  He surrendered 1 run and 6 hits in 9
and 1/3 innings.

The Devault Dynamiters bested the Eagle Eagles 5-2 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Woodie Fryman(10-12) had a solid outing for Devault.  He went 7 and 1/3
innings allowing 5 hits and 2 walks.  Devault managed 7 hits in their
victory.  
 
Bruce Sutter got the save, his 36th.  Rick Reuschel(18-12) was hit with the
loss.  He allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.

Joe Morgan had 3 base hits and Steve Carlton was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the potent Lionville
ballclub outscored the struggling Honey Brook Beekeepers 5-3 at The Nest.
 
Lionville scored the winning runs in the top of the 8th inning plating 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  Greg Luzinski kicked off the action when he lashed a
single.  After an out was recorded, Jim Wynn came up and he drew a walk.  Joe
Torre then drew a walk to load the bases.  Ken Reitz followed and he doubled.
After another out, Morgan came up and he was walked intentionally to load
the bases.  Lionville won despite being out-hit by Honey Brook 12-9.
 
Carlton(20-5) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Darold
Knowles(5-2) suffered the loss in relief.  'I didn't have my best stuff but
sometimes you just get lucky,' Carlton said, 'this was one of those times.'
