6/10/77: Kimberton Shades Lionville, 3-2, as Henderson Homers

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
Swan actually pitched very well. He made the one mistake to Henderson in the 4th, which really cost him. Swan didn't get enough help - nothing from Joe, Bull, and Reitz.

Stableboys beat the Kimberton Firefighters 4-1.

run. After two outs Bench cracked a solo homerun. That early scoring was
all that John Montefusco(3-3) needed. Paul Reuschel was perfect in relief
and got the save, his 1st.

John Candelaria(6-4) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 4 runs and 9 hits
in 8 and 1/3 innings.

Guthriesville scored 5 runs in the top of the 3rd inning when they came up
with 5 base hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Guthriesville
had 16 hits for the game and Chester Springs had 5.

The win was credited to Steve Rogers(6-4) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Jerry Reuss(4-4) suffered the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 2 and 2/3

In a good matchup it was the Honey Brook Beekeepers 9, the Eagle Eagles 6 in
14 innings at Hickory Park.

The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. Finally, Honey Brook
pulled the game out in the 14th inning. Tom Paciorek led off and got things
going when he laced a base-knock. After an out was recorded, Terry Harmon
stepped in and he drew a walk. Dusty Baker then drew a walk to load the
bases. Roger Freed came up and he stroked a base-hit. Gary Matthews stepped
into the box and would ground out. The Eagle offense proved no trouble in
the bottom of the 14th.

Ruthven(3-5) took the loss in relief. He pitched 4 and 2/3 innings and

pitcher's duel. Elverson's Ed Halicki(3-5) finally bested his Marshallton
counterpart, Bob Shirley(6-2), by the score of 3-1.

Marshallton fell behind quickly as the Elverson offense came through in the
first inning when they tallied 2 runs on 1 hit. The early run support proved
sufficient for Halicki and Elverson. That was all the run support Halicki
required. For the game Elverson out-hit Marshallton 7-2.

Hooton(2-3) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Devault
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 3 hits and no walks in 9
innings improving his ERA from 5.40 to 4.68. Lionville had 9 hits for the
night.

in 2 and 1/3 innings. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances tonight,'
Barney Charney said. 'Hooton just was too much for our guys.'

Richie Hebner homered and had 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the
Kimberton Firefighters 6-4 at Kimberton Fairground.

Glenmoore started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first when they scored 4 runs on 5 hits. The highlight belonged to
Hebner who quieted the crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two run
home run. Overall Glenmoore out-hit Kimberton 15-12.

The victory was credited to Rick Rhoden(5-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Gary Lavelle recorded the save, his 4th. The losing pitcher was Jim
Lonborg(3-4).

Homeruns- J.Royster(3rd)

Tom Seaver pitched 9 strong innings and Lee Lacy hit 2 doubles as the Chester
Springs ballclub beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers 2-0 at Historic Village
Park.

The game started off with Chester Springs taking the lead in the first plating
an isolated run using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Jose Cardenal
doubled. Lacy was next and he doubled. Rick Monday was the next batter, but
he struck out. That early run support was enough for Seaver(5-4) and Chester
Springs. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.

Jim Kaat(2-3) was the loser. Gary Scott lamented, 'Seaver was really
aggressive tonight. He kept coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he
kept sitting our guys down one after another - like so many bowling pins!'

6/8/77: Kranepool Homers as Lionville Throttles Devault, 8-4

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
Kranepool's night: He kick-started our 4-spot in the 2nd and hit a 2-run bomb in the 5th. Lefty got quite a workout. He fanned 11 despite a couple of bad innings to win his 9th. He's on a pace to win 27. He couldn't quite finish though, so Reed came in with 2 on and got Kong to ground into a game-ending double play. Excellent work! Ron's back to looking like a closer. So at the one-third mark we're on pace for 90 wins. Not bad but with Chester Springs' starting pitching 90 probably wouldn't be enough. We have to pick up the pace. One ominous note: Bull's in a mini-slump. Maybe he needs a day off …
