First baseman Bob Watson connected with a 'big fly' and had 5 RBI at Kimberton
Fairground as the Kimberton Firefighters won a thriller over the Honey Brook
Beekeepers in, 7-6.
The game was won by Kimberton when they scored a run in the 9th inning. Jose
Cruz slapped a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Cruz was running on
the next pitch and he stole second. Reggie Smith then doubled giving
Kimberton the win as 1,480 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Kimberton
finished with 10 hits in the victory.
The winning pitcher was Guillermo Hernandez(3-1) who allowed 1 run in 1 and
2/3 innings. Santo Alcala(2-4) took the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up
9 hits and 3 walks.

Doug Rau shut down the Devault batters on just 3 hits as the Elverson Squires
bested the Devault Dynamiters 7-0 at Great Valley Stadium.
Rau(4-4) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Devault offense. He
didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Elverson had a
total of 8 hits for the game.
Joaquin Andujar(1-5) was the losing pitcher.

Jim Rooker completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Chester
Springs team defeated the Marshallton Mad Hatters 5-2 at Historic Village Park.
Chester Springs took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on
3 hits. Chester Springs banged out 9 hits on the afternoon.
Rooker(5-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Jackson
Todd(0-2) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 9 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings.

The Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the Glenmoore Stableboys by a score of
8-5 at Bentley Stadium.
Clay Carroll(4-1) was called upon to do the job and he was the winning
pitcher. He allowed 2 hits and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings. Guthriesville
rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.
Kent Tekulve earned his 5th save. Gary Lavelle(1-3) was the loser in relief.
He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the
game.

Floyd Bannister(2-6), with relief help from Gary Lavelle, shut down the
Guthriesville Golddiggers hitters at Bentley Stadium. The Glenmoore
Stableboys came away with a 6-0 victory.
Glenmoore took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring a
single run on 2 base hits. That was all the runs Bannister needed.
Glenmoore had 14 hits for the night while Guthriesville had 3.
Bannister got help from Lavelle who was credited with his 2nd save. Buzz
Capra(2-3) was charged with the loss. He pitched 4 and 1/3 innings allowing
6 hits and 2 walks.
EAGLE AT LIONVILLE

Gene Pentz(3-3) handcuffed the Lionville club batters at Foster Field in a day
game. The Eagle Eagles scored 1 run for the win.
The game was won by Eagle with a run in the 8th inning. After an out was
recorded, Dave Roberts ripped a base-hit. Bob Phillips then called for a
steal which was successful. Darrel Chaney then worked the squeeze play to
perfection. Bill Atkinson was perfect in the ninth giving him his 7th save
on the season.
The loss was charged to Burt Hooton(1-3). He was pinned with the loss despite
not allowing an earned run in his 8 and 2/3 innings of work.
