Stan Bahnsen shutout Eagle while allowing the Guthriesville bullpen a day-off
as the Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the Eagle Eagles 4-0 at Hopewell 
Field.
 
Bahnsen(3-1) was virtually untouchable.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 4 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.10.  Guthriesville
rapped out 8 hits for the night.  
 
Gene Pentz(2-2) took the loss.

Catcher Steve Yeager hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI at Four Dogs Field
where the Marshallton Mad Hatters beat the Chester Springs club 14-7.
 
Yeager had a big evening at the plate.  He tripled in the 2nd inning and
smacked a three-run homer in the 6th inning.  Marshallton managed 16 hits in
their victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Odell Jones(3-0) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Jerry
Reuss(3-2) was given the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks
in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Lee Mazzilli had 4 hits at French Creek Park where the Elverson Squires beat
the Devault Dynamiters 4-3.
 
Elverson had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 5 base
hits.  After an out was recorded, Mike Tyson opened up the rally as he
doubled.  Jack Clark stepped up to the plate and he ripped a single.  Clark
took second on the throw.  Vic Harris then slapped a base-hit.  Harris took
second on the throw.  Rick Sawyer then bounced one in the dirt for a wild
pitch.  Tim Foli came up to bat and laced a base-knock.  Mazzilli kept the
inning going and singled.  Mazzilli swiped second base.  Al Oliver then was
walked intentionally to load the bases.  Steve Garvey was a strikeout victim,
unable to help out.  Devault tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
 
Bob Forsch(3-3) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Mike Garman
preserved the game for Forsch, recording his his 7th.  The loss was charged
to Jackie Brown(1-2).  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks
in 7 and 2/3 innings.  
 
John Carney was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
