4/19/76: Lionville Eases Past Glenmoore, 7-3

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
Jerry Morales!! That's an exclamation point for each time he went yard. No doubt about it either time. We're getting power out of the leadoff spot no matter who starts. I could get to like these one-game series -- but there aren't anymore on the schedule. After a night off Tuesday it's on to Eagle. Those fans at Hickory are rabid. But we'll be ready.

Jon Matlack reeled off a total of 12 strikeouts as the Devault Dynamiters (4-2)
defeated the Marshallton Mad Hatters (3-4) 3-2 at Great Valley
Stadium.

Matlack(2-0) had a solid outing for Devault. He went 8 innings and surrended
up 8 hits and no walks. Marshallton tried unsuccessfully to come back in the
9th.

Matlack got relief help from Bruce Sutter who gained credit for his 2nd save.
Gary Nolan(0-1) ended up with the loss. John Young was upset after the game.
'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he
said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's
printed in the rule book.'

George Foster had 4 hits at Hopewell Field where the Eagle Eagles (3-4) beat the
Guthriesville Golddiggers (2-5) 7-6.

In the 7th inning Eagle scored 3 runs with the help of 4 hits. The crucial
at-bat was provided by Felix Millan who silenced the stadium when he doubled
scoring two baserunners. Guthriesville made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.

Chip Lang(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Randy Moffitt recorded the save, his 3rd. Bob Apodaca(0-1)
was charged with the loss in relief. He allowed 5 hits and no walks in 3 and
2/3 innings.

Gary Scott was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'

inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning. Lionville finished
with 9 hits in the victory.

4/18/76: Lionville Staves Off Guthriesville, 4-3

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
Those bats of ours were due to go silent and boy did they ever for 6 innings. Rogers was pitching a gem. Then Bull just barely snuck that ball over the fence, and Rogers completely lost his composure. Fortunately we were able to take advantage. Too bad Simmons is going to have to go on the DL. He'll be missed. How about that Bill Madlock? He was really on fire for Kimberton today.

4/17/76: Lionville Spanks Guthriesville, 10-7

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
14 hits in the first 5 innings ... these guys are really stroking it! Special thanks to Dave Lopes who committed 2 errors in the same inning and failed to make almost every tough play. Lefty was one pitch away from being yanked in the 5th after giving up 5 straight hits. But I really wanted him to get the "W" so I gave him one more batter and he got Foote to line into a twin-killing. Nice.
