April 20, 1976 Recaps

CHESTER SPRINGS AT ELVERSON

Gary Thomasson had 3 base hits and Jerry Reuss was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game at French Creek Park as the
Chester Springs (3-5) team beat the Elverson Squires (2-6) 7-1.
 
Reuss(1-1) pitched a solid game.  He surrendered 10 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings dropping his ERA from 5.40 to 3.12.  Chester Springs had 12 hits for
the afternoon.  
 
John Denny(0-2) took the loss.  He pitched 8 innings giving up 12 hits and no
walks.
 
KIMBERTON AT HONEY BROOK

Doug Rader blasted a homerun as the Honey Brook Beekeepers (4-2) topped the
Kimberton Firefighters (5-2) in 11 innings by a score of 7-6 at The Nest.
 
The score was tied at 5 after nine.  Honey Brook came out the victor in the
11th inning.  Mike Phillips started the inning off right when he laced a
base-knock.  After an out was recorded, Gary Matthews stepped in and he drew
a walk.  Willie Stargell then banged out a single.  Cesar Geronimo followed
and he stroked a one-base hit.  Honey Brook finished with 12 hits in the
victory.  
 
Darold Knowles(1-0) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Skip
Lockwood(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  Honey Brook knocked him
around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.  
 
 
MARSHALLTON AT DEVAULT

Lynn McGlothen carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Richie Zisk had 3
base hits as the Devault Dynamiters (5-2) beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters (3-5) 
by a score of 6-3.
 
McGlothen(1-1) was in control of the game from the outset. He surrendered only
2 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  The right-handed McGlothen lost a
no-hitter when Bill Buckner doubled with nobody out in the 6th inning.
Marshallton threatened in the 9th but Devault was able to put down the rally.
 
McGlothen got help from Dan Warthen who earned his 1st save.  Brent Strom(1-1)
was charged with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 5 walks
in 7 and 1/3 innings.
