April 17, 1976 Recaps



EAGLE AT GLENMOORE

The Glenmoore Stableboys (2-2) and the Eagle Eagles (1-4) locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Bentley Stadium.  The final score was the Glenmoore Stableboys 4, the
Eagle Eagles 3.
 
Eagle was unable to climb back into it after Glenmoore went ahead for good in
the bottom of the 7th inning plating an isolated run on 2 hits.  Glenmoore
had 8 hits for the afternoon.  
 
The win was credited to Gene Garber(1-0) who went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing
no runs. Mike Marshall(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.  
 
 
ELVERSON AT KIMBERTON

Third baseman Bill Madlock had 2 base hits as the Kimberton Firefighters (3-1)
bested the Elverson Squires (2-3), 7-3 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Elverson was unable to claim the lead after Kimberton went ahead in the bottom
of the 7th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits.  Kimberton managed 7
hits in their victory.  
 
Carl Morton(1-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Ed Halicki(0-1)
was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 6 hits and 6 walks in 7 innings.
 
MARSHALLTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Third baseman Ron Cey hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI at Historic Village 
Park where the Marshallton Mad Hatters (2-2) beat the Chester Springs (1-4) 
ballclub, 3-1.
 
Steve Renko(1-0) pitched well for Marshallton in their victory.  He went 6
innings and surrended up 6 hits and no walks.  Marshallton had 11 hits for
the game and Chester Springs had 7.  
 
Renko got relief help from Rawly Eastwick who gained credit for his 2nd save.
The loss was charged to Jack Billingham(0-1).  He gave up 3 runs and 8 hits
in 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
 
HONEY BROOK AT DEVAULT

Center fielder Cesar Geronimo had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Honey Brook
Beekeepers (3-1) defeated the Devault Dynamiters (2-2) by a score of 8-7 at Great
Valley Stadium.
 
In the top of the 2nd inning Honey Brook went on top for good when they scored
3 runs on 5 hits.  Devault had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came
up short.  
 
Doc Medich(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Tug McGraw was credited with his 1st save.  Lynn
McGlothen(0-1) took the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7
runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.  
 
'He gutted it out' Chris McLaughlin said of Medich.  'I was very impressed by
his tenacity.'
 
LIONVILLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Willie Davis had 4 hits and scored 3 times at Hopewell Field as the Lionville (4-0) 
club beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers (2-3), 10-7.
 
Steve Carlton(2-0) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win.  He
went 7 innings allowing 9 hits and 1 walk and gave up 2 homeruns.  Lionville
out-hit Guthriesville for the game, 18 hits to 10.  
 
Larry Christenson(0-1) suffered the loss.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 7 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
