In a good matchup it was the Marshallton Mad Hatters 6, the Eagle Eagles 4 at
Four Dogs Field.
Eagle lost it in the 2nd inning when Marshallton did all their damage when
they tallied 6 runs on 5 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for
Brent Strom(8-3) and Marshallton. That was all the run support Strom
required. Eagle had 10 hits in the game while Marshallton had 6, but
Marshallton had the more timely hits.
Rawly Eastwick earned his 15th save. Dick Ruthven(4-6) was the losing
pitcher. With this win, Marshallton has a 36-26 record. They have been 6-4
lately. With the loss, the Eagle ballclub's record is 28-34.

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
Leonnn! 2 dingers! Turned out to be the difference in the game. If he keeps this up we may forget about Jerry Morales. (Just kidding, Jerry.) Kison really struggled in the early innings, but he eventually got his bearings and earned the win. And a save for Chuck Taylor? Who'da thunk?

First baseman Willie Stargell connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI at
Kimberton Fairground where the Honey Brook Beekeepers beat the Kimberton
Firefighters 8-4.
Honey Brook scored 4 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning when they had
4 base hits. That early run support was all that Dave Freisleben(3-5)
required. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.
Carl Morton(2-2) took the loss. He was unable to control the Honey Brook
offense and allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings.

6/13/76: Lionville Sweeps Eagle, 7-4, in 11
Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
As tense as the first game was, the nightcap was a fingernail- and toenail-biter. Bull and Hozay were the hitting heroes. Bull is on another hot streak - 5 hits! Chuck Taylor came that close to letting it get out of hand in the 7th but Morgan and Simba bailed him out with an amazing 4-2-3 double play on a ball hit by Parker. As in the opener on a force play at home Rose was the lead base runner. He tried like hell to take out Simmons but my guy stood his ground. Brilliant play. We had a lot of clutch hitting in the 9th and 11th but that twin-killing was probably the key to the win and the sweep. I see we have 4 more against these guys this coming week. Mercy! Too bad we're going to be without Jerry Morales for the rest of the month.

6/13/76: Lionville Edges Eagle, 4-3, in 10
Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
We had to win this one twice. Ken Sanders was one strike away from a save when Driessen hit a pinch homer to send it to extra innings. A clutch pinch single by Jerry Morales with 2 outs puts us back in front in the 10th. Sanders walks Rose to start Eagle's half of the 10th so I bring in Reed. Things get really hairy when Reed loads them up. Then Parker grounds to Speier and Chris makes a huge play to get the ball to Simba in time to force Rose. Pete was p/o'ed. Reed caps it off by getting Williams on a pop-up. So Sanders ends up picking up the win after blowing the save.

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:
What to do about George Foster? He's kind of killing us. Swan pitched pretty well actually. Not much punch on offense, especially with Morgan resting. If I squint I can see the Mad Hatters in the rear-view mirror. We'd better pick it up. We've got 2 against these dangerous Eagles tomorrow. Have I said I don't like Hickory Park?
