Center fielder Reggie Smith cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the Kimberton
Firefighters defeated the Honey Brook Beekeepers by the score of 5-2 at
Kimberton Fairground.
 
Kimberton went ahead for good in the 4th inning plating one baserunner on 3
hits.  After an out was recorded, Smith ripped a one-base hit.  After another
out, Jerry Mumphrey stepped up to the plate and he lined a base-hit.  Manny
Trillo then banged out a single.  Honey Brook threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.  
 
The winning pitcher was John Candelaria(10-0) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Skip Lockwood preserved the game for Candelaria, recording his his
13th.  Pete Falcone(5-7) was hit with the loss.

Third baseman Ron Cey had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and J.R. Richard racked up an
impressive total of 15 strikeouts as the Marshallton Mad Hatters defeated the
Devault Dynamiters by a score of 5-0 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Richard(5-4) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Devault batters.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 4
walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.89.  Marshallton totaled 10 hits on
the afternoon.  
 
Tommy John(5-4) took the loss.  He surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings.  'He was really impressive today,' John said of his counterpart.
'Our guys were just swinging at air.'

Jose Cardenal ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Tom Seaver took a no-hitter
into the 6th inning as the Chester Springs ballclub defeated the Elverson
Squires 8-0 at Historic Village Park.
 
Cardenal had a great day at the plate.  He smashed a solo-shot out of the park
in the 1st inning, laced a base-hit in the 5th inning, rifled a three-run
blast in the 6th inning and lined a one-base hit in the 8th inning.  Chester
Springs finished with 14 hits in the victory.  
 
Seaver(8-2) went the distance for the shutout.  The right-handed Seaver had
his no-hit bid broken up by Al Oliver who singled with one out in the 6th
inning.  John Denny(2-7) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 14 hits
and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  
 
'We didn't have a whole lot of chances today,' John Carney said.  'Seaver just
was too much for our guys.'
 
GLENMOORE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

At Hopewell Field the Guthriesville Golddiggers scored 6 runs in the 5th
inning and easily handled the Glenmoore Stableboys by the score of 6-2.
 
Larry Dierker(3-8) gave Guthriesville a solid outing.  He allowed 7 hits and 5
walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  Ken Forsch pitched a perfect ninth and was
credited with his 7th save.  
 
The loss was charged to Bill Bonham(4-5). Guthriesville knocked him around a
bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

George Foster smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Eagle Eagles outscored
the Lionville team 4-2.
 
Foster enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 1st inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 8th
inning.  The Lionville batters went down meekly in the 9th.  
 
Rick Reuschel(6-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Reuschel
was helped out by Randy Moffitt who recorded his 14th save.  Craig Swan(3-3)
suffered the loss.
