First baseman Willie Stargell connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI at
Kimberton Fairground where the Honey Brook Beekeepers beat the Kimberton
Firefighters 8-4.
 
Honey Brook scored 4 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning when they had
4 base hits.  That early run support was all that Dave Freisleben(3-5)
required.  Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.  
 
Carl Morton(2-2) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Honey Brook
offense and allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings.

Bob Watson had 4 hits as the Kimberton Firefighters defeated the Honey Brook
Beekeepers 7-5 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Honey Brook never recovered after Kimberton took the lead in the bottom of the
2nd inning plating 2 runs using 3 hits.  Greg Gross led off and he delivered
a single.  Manny Trillo stepped up to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice
bunt.  Jerry Mumphrey then ripped a base-knock.  Mumphrey was safe on a
stolen base.  After another out, Frank Taveras came up and he stroked a
one-base hit.  Taveras took second on the throw.  Kimberton continued their
aggressive style with another stolen base.  Kimberton took care of Honey
Brook with no trouble in the 9th.  
 
Dan Larson(4-1) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. The losing pitcher
was Santo Alcala(2-3).  He was touched for 10 hits and 7 walks in 6 and 1/3
innings.  
 
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Larson said.

First baseman Tony Perez cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the Devault
Dynamiters outscored the Marshallton Mad Hatters 5-1.
 
Lynn McGlothen(7-4) earned his pay with a solid performance for Devault.  He
went 6 and 1/3 innings and surrended up 5 hits and 1 walk reducing his ERA
from 3.91 to 3.70.  For the game Devault out-hit Marshallton 9-6.
 
McGlothen got help from Bruce Sutter who earned his 12th save.  Gary
Nolan(4-6) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.

In an entertaining game at Historic Village Park the final score was the
Elverson Squires 4, the Chester Springs team 1.
 
Elverson jumped on top to stay in the top of the 6th inning scoring one runner
on 2 base hits.  Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning.  
 
The victory went to Bob Forsch(4-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. Forsch
got relief help from Al Hrabosky who gained credit for his 4th save.  Phil
Niekro(5-5) was tagged with the loss.  
 
 
GLENMOORE AT GUTHRIESVILLE, 1st

Enos Cabell had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Hopewell Field where the
Guthriesville Golddiggers beat the Glenmoore Stableboys 5-3.
 
Steve Rogers(3-7) gave Guthriesville a solid outing.  He went 8 innings
surrendering 6 hits and no walks.  Glenmoore threatened in the 9th but
Guthriesville was able to put down the rally.  
 
Ken Forsch gained credit for his 8th save.  Mickey Lolich(3-4) was given the
loss.  He gave up 8 hits and 1 walk in 4 and 2/3 innings.
 
GLENMOORE AT GUTHRIESVILLE, 2nd

The Guthriesville Golddiggers edged the Glenmoore Stableboys at Hopewell Field
3-2.
 
Guthriesville scored the deciding run in the 8th inning.  After two outs Cesar
Cedeno drew a walk.  Bobby Murcer stepped up next and he drew a walk.  Keith
Hernandez then was hit by a pitch.  Pedro Borbon then uncorked a wild one
that found its way to the backstop.  Glenmoore made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.  
 
The win went to Bob Apodaca(4-2) who allowed 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings. John
Curtis got the save, his 1st.  Frank Lacorte(2-5) was hit with the loss.  He
pitched 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 walks.
 
'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals' said Barry Bentley after the game.
'We lost this game today because we didn't follow the instructions every
Little Leaguer hears every day.'

The Lionville club nipped the Eagle Eagles in 10 innings 4-3 at Hickory Park
in a hard fought contest.
 
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Finally, Lionville
pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Jerry
Martin stroked a single.  Ed Kranepool came to the plate and singled.  After
another out, Jerry Morales stepped up to the plate and he ripped a one-base
hit.  Lionville managed 10 hits in their victory.  
 
Ken Sanders(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Ron Reed
earned the save, his 6th.  Mike Marshall(2-3) was given the loss in relief.
 
 
LIONVILLE AT EAGLE, 2nd

Greg Luzinski had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Lionville ballclub bested the Eagle
Eagles in 11 innings 7-4 at Hickory Park.
 
The score was tied at 4 after nine.  Lionville won it in the 11th inning.
After an out was recorded, Chris Speier got things going when he smacked a
single.  Hozay Morales stepped up to the plate and he banged out a single.
Joe Morgan then drew a walk to load the bases.  Ted Simmons came up and he
laced a base-hit.  Jerry Martin dug into the batters box next, but he struck
out.  Luzinski joined his teammates in the uprising and ripped a single.  Jim
Wynn stepped up next and he drew a walk to load the bases.  Lionville rapped
out 14 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Ron Reed(7-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. Gene
Pentz(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.  He got hammered, allowing 5 hits and
2 walks in 2 innings.
