Right fielder Bake McBride had 3 base hits at Kimberton Fairground where the
Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Kimberton Firefighters 5-3.
 
In the 4th inning Glenmoore scored 3 runs when they came up with 4 base hits.
McBride led off the inning for Glenmoore when he smacked a single.  McBride
then stole second base.  Richie Hebner then lined a single.  After an out was
recorded, Glenmoore continued their aggressive style with another stolen
base.  Barry Bonnell came up to bat and doubled.  One out later, Ted Sizemore
stepped up to the plate and he slapped a single.  Glenmoore had 11 hits for
the game and Kimberton had 6.  
 
The win was credited to Bob Owchinko(4-3) who went 8 innings allowing 3 runs.
Owchinko got help from Gary Lavelle who was credited with his 3rd save.
Larry Demery(1-3) took the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Bobby Valentine touched them all as the Chester Springs club defeated the
Guthriesville Golddiggers in 11 innings 5-4 at Historic Village Park.
 
Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings.  Chester Springs came
out the victor in the 11th inning.  Rennie Stennett banged out a single.
Jerry Royster followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Stennett
proceeded to steal third base.  Larry Bowa was up next and he was walked
intentionally.  Dave Winfield stepped into the box and lashed a single making
Chester Springs the winners and sending the 412 fans home happy.  Chester
Springs had 12 hits overall, while Guthriesville had 8.  
 
Bo McLaughlin(5-0) went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Grant
Jackson(3-2) was given the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 4 hits in 4
and 2/3 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT EAGLE

Mark Lemongello had a strong outing as the Honey Brook Beekeepers defeated the
Eagle Eagles 2-1 at Hickory Park.
 
Lemongello(4-6) gave Honey Brook a solid outing.  He allowed just 6 hits and
no walks in 9 innings.  Honey Brook managed 8 hits in their victory.  
 
Don Sutton(4-4) ended up with the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered
8 hits and 2 walks.
 
ELVERSON AT MARSHALLTON

With the hometown crowd on the edge of their seats, the Marshallton Mad Hatters
came from behind to top the Elverson Squires, 5-4.
 
Marshallton erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Ron Cey kicked off the action when he
doubled.  After an out was recorded, Garry Templeton came to bat and
delivered a single.  Templeton took second on the throw.  Gene Richards was
next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Mike Ivie came up and he
ripped a base-hit.  Ivie took second on the throw.  For the game Marshallton
out-hit Elverson 10-7.  
 
Buddy Schultz(3-1) was the winner allowing 1 run in 3 and 1/3 innings. Bob
Forsch(3-4) suffered the loss.  'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for
you,' Ken Griffey noted.  'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but
we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great
to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
 
LIONVILLE AT DEVAULT

Bruce Kison went 8 strong innings and center fielder Andre Dawson had 2 base
hits as the Lionville ballclub outscored the Devault Dynamiters 1-0.
 
Lionville scored what proved to be the only run of the contest in the 4th
inning.  Lionville had 10 hits for the night while Devault had 4.  
 
The victory was credited to Kison(4-3) who went 8 innings, allowing no runs.
Ron Reed earned his 3rd save.  The losing pitcher was Jackie Brown(2-3).
