Dick Ruthven had a strong outing as the Eagle Eagles defeated the Glenmoore
Stableboys by a score of 4-1 at Bentley Stadium.
 
Don Stanhouse(3-2) was solid if not spectacular.  He surrendered 5 hits and 3
walks in 5 and 2/3 innings improving his ERA from 5.45 to 4.91.  Both teams
totaled 6 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Ruthven was credited with his 1st save. The loss was charged to Rick
Rhoden(3-2).  He surrendered 6 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.

The Glenmoore Stableboys nipped the Eagle Eagles 5-4 at Bentley Stadium in
a hard fought contest.
 
Glenmoore plated all the runs they needed in the 8th inning when they tallied
5 runs on 6 hits.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.  
 
The win went to John Urrea(4-1) who allowed 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Gene
Garber preserved the game for Urrea, recording his his 5th.  Don Sutton(3-2)
was the losing pitcher.

First baseman Bill Buckner blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI and Paul Moskau
went the distance at Four Dogs Field as the Marshallton Mad Hatters beat the
Devault Dynamiters 5-1.
 
Moskau(2-2) was in control of the game from the outset.  He didn't allow much,
just 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.  Marshallton totaled 9 hits on the
afternoon.  
 
Joaquin Andujar(1-3) was hit with the loss.  He allowed 5 runs and 8 hits in 7
and 1/3 innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT HONEY BROOK

Gary Thomasson hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Chester Springs
club beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 7-2.
 
Chester Springs tallied 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they came up
with 3 base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Dave Winfield who
quieted the home crowd when he tripled bringing in two baserunners.  Chester
Springs had 11 hits for the game and Honey Brook had 6.  
 
The victory was credited to Jim Rooker(3-3) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. Santo Alcala(2-3) suffered the loss.  By giving up 5 runs in 3 innings
his ERA increased from 4.76 to 5.74.  
 
KIMBERTON AT ELVERSON, 1st

John Candelaria pitched 9 strong innings as the Kimberton Firefighters bested
the Elverson Squires 5-1 at French Creek Park.
 
Elverson was unable to recover after Kimberton went ahead in the 5th inning as
they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Bob
Watson who helped quiet the crowd when he clubbed a two-run home run.
Kimberton managed 10 hits in their victory.  
 
The victory was credited to Candelaria(5-3) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Bob Forsch(2-3) was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings allowing
7 hits and 5 walks.
 
KIMBERTON AT ELVERSON, 2nd

At French Creek Park, the Elverson fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Nino Espinosa(3-1) finally bested his Kimberton opposite, Bob Myrick(0-1), 3-0.
 
In the bottom of the 2nd inning Elverson went on top for good scoring one
runner.  Gary Alexander drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, John Carney
came to the plate and called for a steal which was successful.  Mike Tyson
then ripped a base-hit.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Elverson
won despite being out-hit by Kimberton 7-4.  
 
Dave Tomlin got the save, his 2nd.  Myrick ended up with the loss.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT LIONVILLE

Sam Mejias connected with a 'big fly' at Foster Field as the Guthriesville
Golddiggers beat the Lionville ballclub in 10 innings 7-5.
 
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally,
Guthriesville prevailed in the 10th inning.  Keith Hernandez led off and
started the attack as he banged out a single.  After an out was recorded,
Davey Lopes came to bat and delivered a base-hit.  Julio Gonzalez then hit a
deep fly.  Pat Rockett followed and he doubled.  The Lionville batters didn't
put up a fight in the bottom of the 10th.  
 
Grant Jackson(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing
1 run. Joe Sambito(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
