The hometown crowd was rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the Kimberton
Firefighters staged a comeback win over the Honey Brook Beekeepers 5-4.
 
Kimberton erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
on 2 hits.  Greg Gross led off and got things going when he drew a walk.
George Hendrick stepped up to the plate and he doubled, and an error was also
committed.  Jerry Mumphrey then stroked a single.  Both teams ended up with 8
hits on the night.  
 
The win went to Guillermo Hernandez(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Joe Kerrigan(0-4) was the losing pitcher in relief.  'Now that is
what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like this, of
course,' Rich Pawlak offered.  'Everyone at the stadium had a great time -
did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'

In a good matchup it was the Elverson Squires 5, the Devault Dynamiters 2 in
11 innings at Great Valley Stadium.
 
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Elverson won the hard fought contest in
the 11th inning.  Gary Alexander led off and started the attack as he stroked
a one-base hit.  Steve Garvey stepped up next and he ripped a base-hit.  Al
Oliver then stroked a base-hit.  Oliver then stole second base.  Two outs
later Elverson continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.
Joe Ferguson kept the inning going and smacked a single.  Elverson finished
with 11 hits while Devault ended up with 7.  
 
Dave Heaverlo(4-1) got the win allowing no runs in 4 innings. Mike Garman
earned the save, his 8th.  Bruce Sutter(1-2) took the loss in relief.
Elverson scored big getting 3 runs off him in 2 innings.  
 
MARSHALLTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

The Marshallton Mad Hatters plated 6 runs in the 5th inning and toppled the
Chester Springs ballclub 6-2 at Historic Village Park.
 
Tom Underwood(4-3) pitched a fine game.  He went 8 and 2/3 innings
surrendering 11 hits and 5 walks.  Both teams finished the game with 11 hits.
 
The loss was charged to Jerry Reuss(4-3).  He was knocked around by
Marshallton, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT GLENMOORE

Third baseman Enos Cabell jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the
Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the Glenmoore Stableboys 5-1 at Bentley 
Stadium.
 
Guthriesville took the lead for good in the top of the 2nd inning scoring a
single run.  After two were out Cabell hit a bases-empty home run.  Derrel
Thomas followed, but he was set down on strikes.  For the game Guthriesville
out-hit Glenmoore 11-5.  
 
Stan Bahnsen(4-1) allowed 1 run in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Bob
Apodaca was credited with his 2nd save.  The losing pitcher was John
Montefusco(2-3).  
 
EAGLE AT LIONVILLE

Steve Carlton went the distance and Ed Kranepool hit a grand slam at Foster 
Field where the Lionville team beat the Eagle Eagles 8-1.
 
Gene Clines had a big evening at the plate.  He doubled scoring a run in the
3rd inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 4th inning.  Lionville
finished with 9 hits in the victory.  
 
Carlton(8-3) allowed 1 run on the game. Pat Zachry(0-6) ended up with the
loss.  He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
