defeated the Chester Springs club 4-0 at Bentley Stadium.
Rhoden(1-0) was virtually untouchable. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. The pitchers took over after the 4th
inning as neither team was able to score again.
The loss was charged to Phil Niekro(0-1). 'When Rhoden is on like that it is
a tough game to play, no doubt about it,' Jim Ghoulach said. 'He always
pitches well against us.'

winning it in the 13th inning. Gene Richards stroked a one-base hit.

continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. After an out was
recorded, Ken Griffey stepped in and he doubled. After another out, Garry
Templeton followed, but he was set down on strikes. Honey Brook went down
without a fight in the bottom of the 13th.

doubled. Schmidt proceeded to steal third base. Joe Ferguson was next to

the park for a two run home run. Ellis Valentine stepped into the box and
hit a single. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5
times.
