Bob Owchinko pitched a 3 hit shutout and first baseman Willie Montanez
launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Kimberton Fairground as the Glenmoore
Stableboys beat the Kimberton Firefighters 4-0.
 
Montanez had a good day at the plate.  He doubled in the 4th inning, popped a
two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning and clubbed a two-run home run
in the 7th inning.  Glenmoore rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon.
 
Owchinko(1-0) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Fred
Norman(0-1) was the loser.  Despite the loss, he struckout 9 Glenmoore
batters in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' Rich Pawlak said.
Owchinko pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'

Second baseman Davey Lopes had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Historic Village Park as the
Guthriesville Golddiggers beat the Chester Springs ballclub 12-7.
 
Chester Springs was unable to recover after Guthriesville went ahead in the
top of the 7th inning as they scored 3 runs on 5 base hits.  Guthriesville
kept the scorekeepers busy in the 9th inning when they had 4 runs on 6 hits.
The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.  
 
The win went to Grant Jackson(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Jack Billingham(0-1) suffered the loss in relief.  He gave up 7 runs in 2 and
2/3 innings of work.

Left fielder Dusty Baker had 2 base hits as the Honey Brook Beekeepers rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Eagle Eagles, 3-2.
 
Honey Brook erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs.
After an out was recorded, Willie Stargell was the sparkplug when he drew a
walk.  One out later, Gene Tenace came up and he stroked a base-hit.
Matthews proceeded to steal third base.  Cesar Geronimo followed and he was
walked intentionally to load the bases.  Cliff Johnson came up to bat and
drew a walk.  Dave Cash did his part to keep things going and drew a walk.
Honey Brook had 7 hits for the night.  
 
Santo Alcala(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Randy Moffitt(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  Chris
McLaughlin was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought
game like that.  Our guys just weren't going to be denied.  And did you see
the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win tonight!'

Bill Buckner had 4 hits as the Marshallton Mad Hatters bested the Elverson
Squires 8-5 at French Creek Park.
 
Marshallton came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning when
they came up with 4 runs on 2 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by
Garry Templeton who deflated the crowd as he laced a one-base hit plating two
runs.  Marshallton banged out 10 hits on the night.  
 
Charlie Williams(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Rawly Eastwick recorded the save, his 1st.  Al Hrabosky(1-1)
was the losing pitcher in relief.  He was the victim of a defensive lapse and
did not allow an earned run in the game.

Jon Matlack tossed a complete game and catcher Gary Carter hit 2 doubles at
Great Valley Stadium where the Devault Dynamiters beat the Lionville team 6-1.
 
Devault came up with all the runs they needed in the 1st inning when they
scored 6 runs on 6 hits.  That early run support was all that Matlack(1-0)
required.  Devault finished with 10 hits in the victory.  
 
Bruce Kison(0-1) took the loss.  He gave up 6 runs and 5 hits in 1/3 of an
inning.
