The Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the Chester Springs ballclub 5-1 at 
Bentley Stadium.
 
In the bottom of the 4th inning Glenmoore scored 3 runs.  The highlight
belonged to Ted Sizemore who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he
doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Overall Glenmoore out-hit Chester
Springs 7-4.  
 
The win was credited to Bill Bonham(1-0) who went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
run. Pedro Borbon earned the save, his 1st.  The losing pitcher was Tom
Seaver(0-1).

In a one-sided affiar at Hopewell Field the final score was the Devault
Dynamiters 11, the Guthriesville Golddiggers 4.
 
Jackie Brown(1-0) pitched okay, well enough for the win.  He went 6 and 2/3
innings surrendering 7 hits and no walks and was touched for 2 homeruns.
Devault finished with 14 hits while Guthriesville ended up with 8.  
 
Larry Christenson(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings
and surrendered 7 hits and 1 walk.
 
MARSHALLTON AT HONEY BROOK

Second baseman Art Howe hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Marshallton Mad
Hatters topped the Honey Brook Beekeepers 10-6 at The Nest.
 
Bob Shirley(1-0) delivered a fine performance for Marshallton.  He allowed 9
hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Honey Brook was out-hit by
Marshallton, 17-12.  
 
Rollie Fingers recorded the save, his 1st. The loss was charged to Ray
Burris(0-1).  He allowed Marshallton 6 runs in 4 innings of work.  
 
EAGLE AT ELVERSON

Ellis Valentine had 4 hits and 3 RBI at French Creek Park as the Elverson
Squires pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Eagle Eagles 8-7.
 
Elverson came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning as they scored 4
runs on 4 base hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Steve Garvey who
made the Elverson fans a happy lot when he bombed a two-run dinger.  Elverson
had 11 hits for the night.  
 
Dave Heaverlo(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. Bill Atkinson(0-1) took the loss in relief.  Heaverlo and Valentine
were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind
victory.  As John Carney noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a
team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the players - even
you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE

Jose Cruz had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Foster Field as the Kimberton Firefighters
beat the Lionville team 4-2.
 
John Candelaria(1-0) pitched a fine game. He went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 5
hits and 1 walk.  Kimberton ended up with 10 hits for the game while
Lionville had 6.  
 
Skip Lockwood recorded his 1st save.  Burt Hooton(0-1) was charged with the
loss.  He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 1 walk.
