248 fans were treated to a fine game at Kimberton Fairground as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Chester Springs club won by the
slimmest of margins, 4-3.
Chester Springs took the lead for keeps in the top of the 4th inning plating
an isolated run using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Rick Monday hit a
bases-empty home run. After another out, Gary Thomasson came up and he lined
a one-base hit. Kimberton threatened in the 9th but Chester Springs was able
to put down the rally.
The winning pitcher was Jim Rooker(8-11) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Charlie Hough gained credit for his 37th save. Eric Rasmussen(5-10)
absorbed the loss.
'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Rooker, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'

In a game at French Creek Park the Elverson Squires got by the Guthriesville
Golddiggers 6-3.
Elverson scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning with the help of 3
hits. Mike Schmidt led off and started the rally when he drew a walk. After
an out was recorded, John Milner stepped up to the plate and he slapped a
single. Milner took second on the throw. One out later, Mike Tyson stepped
in and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Hector Torres was up
next and he delivered a base-hit. Wayne Garrett came up to bat and stroked a
one-base hit. Elverson had 7 hits for the afternoon.
The victory went to Mike Garman(3-5) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. Al Hrabosky preserved the game for Garman, recording his his 20th. Jim
Kaat(8-23) was the losing pitcher.

Ron Cey had 3 base hits at Four Dogs Field as the Marshallton Mad Hatters beat
the Glenmoore Stableboys 5-2.
Steve Dunning(9-1) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He
went 6 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 walks. Marshallton had 13 hits for the
night while Glenmoore had 9.
Rawly Eastwick recorded the save, his 41st. Frank Lacorte(5-10) took the loss.
He got hit pretty hard, allowing 12 hits and 5 walks in 5 innings.

Lynn McGlothen(12-12) and Pat Zachry(12-11) treated the Devault fans to a fine
pitching duel at Great Valley Stadium. The Devault Dynamiters eventually
emerged as victors over the Eagle Eagles 2-1.
McGlothen had a solid outing for Devault. He went 7 innings surrendering 6
hits and 3 walks. Eagle out-hit Devault 6-3, but Devault ended up with
more runs.
Joe Kerrigan got the save, his 1st.

Shortstop Enzo Hernandez had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Honey Brook
Beekeepers defeated the Lionville ballclub 10-4 at The Nest.
Honey Brook took the lead off Randy Jones in the first inning scoring a single
run utilizing 2 base hits. Overall Honey Brook out-hit Lionville 12-9.
The win was credited to Mark Lemongello(4-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings
allowing 3 runs. Darold Knowles earned the save, his 6th. The loss was
charged to Jones(26-10). He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 7
innings.
