Joe Wallis had 2 base hits as the sizzling Marshallton Mad Hatters defeated
the Guthriesville Golddiggers 3-2 at Four Dogs Field.
Marshallton scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning plating 2 runs on 4
hits. Ken Griffey kicked off the action when he lashed a single. Marty
Perez stepped up to the plate and he slapped a single. After an out was
recorded, Alan Foster came to bat and was wild with a pitch. Pete Lacock
stepped in and he delivered a base-hit. Wallis stepped into the box and
singled. Steve Yeager added to the uprising and grounded into a double play.
Guthriesville was out-hit by Marshallton, 8-4.
Bruce Dal Canton(4-3) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Foster(1-7) was charged with the loss in relief. He allowed 6 hits and no
walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Honey Brook Beekeepers 8-0.
Montefusco(16-12) had a strong outing. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and
2 walks in 7 innings. Glenmoore had 11 hits for the afternoon while Honey
Brook had 3.
The losing pitcher was Ray Burris(8-24). He surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk
without retiring a batter.

In a thriller the Kimberton Firefighters staged a dramatic comeback over the
Devault Dynamiters winning 4-3 at Kimberton Fairground.
Kimberton had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
on 3 base hits. Jerry Grote led off and started the rally when he smacked a
single. After an out was recorded, Manny Trillo came up and he ripped a
base-knock. Tucker Ashford then laced a base-hit. Pepe Mangual dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. Ashford got a good lead and stole
second. Frank Taveras kept things alive and drew a walk to load the bases.
Bill Madlock stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Kimberton had
9 hits for the afternoon.
Steve Stone(4-5) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Bruce
Sutter(4-9) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and
surrendered 2 hits and 2 walks.

Tom Seaver racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts and first baseman
Gary Thomasson hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Chester Springs team
rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Eagle Eagles, 5-4.
Chester Springs had the game winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs using
3 hits. Dave Winfield started the inning off right when he laced a
base-knock. Rick Monday stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an
error. After another out, Jose Cardenal stepped in and he hit a sacrifice
fly. Bob Boone followed and he laced a one-base hit. Rennie Stennett
stepped into the box and stroked a single. This was the kind of game that
many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
Seaver(18-8) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. The loss was
charged to Randy Moffitt(10-8) in relief. Jim Ghoulach was all smiles after
the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys
never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a
sweet win!'

Steve Carlton reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the Lionville ballclub
topped the Elverson Squires 6-3 at French Creek Park.
Carlton(21-5) gave Lionville a solid outing. He went 9 innings and surrended
up 9 hits and 2 walks. Lionville rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon.
Doug Rau(12-13) was the losing pitcher. He served up 3 homeruns in his 3 and
2/3 innings. 'He was really impressive today,' Rau said of his counterpart.
'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
