330 fans were treated to a fine game at Four Dogs Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Marshallton Mad Hatters won by
the slimmest of margins, 2-1.
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Marshallton came out
the victor in the 10th inning. After two outs Roger Metzger delivered a
base-hit. Steve Ontiveros next to the plate and he drew a walk. Ken Griffey
then slapped a single resulting in an exciting win for Marshallton and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans. The game was a scoreless duel
until the 6th inning.
Bruce Dal Canton(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings
and allowing no runs. Gary Lavelle(6-2) absorbed the loss in relief. He
pitched 3 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 2 hits and 5 walks.

It was a laugher out at Kimberton Fairground. The Kimberton Firefighters
squad ripped Chester Springs pitching for a total of 11 runs. Fred
Norman(8-7), with relief help from Carl Morton, held Chester Springs to 1
run.
Norman earned his pay with a solid performance for Kimberton. He was reached
for 3 hits and 6 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Kimberton had 10 hits overall,
while Chester Springs had 4.
The loss was charged to Jerry Reuss(10-14). He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings
giving up 6 hits and 3 walks.

The Eagle Eagles nipped the Devault Dynamiters in 10 innings 7-6 at Great
Valley Stadium in a hard fought contest.
The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings. Eagle ended up winning it in
the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Darrel Chaney ripped a one-base
hit. Moreno then stole second base. Terry Harmon got his turn next, but he
was a strikeout victim. Eagle continued their aggressive style with another
stolen base. Dan Driessen came up to bat and lined a base-hit, and an error
was also committed. George Foster kept the rally going and was walked
intentionally. Bruce Boisclair got his chance to keep things going, but he
went down on strikes. Eagle finished with 12 hits while Devault ended up
with 8.
The victory went to Randy Moffitt(10-7) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Butch Metzger(5-5) was the loser in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 1
walk in 1 inning.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT ELVERSON

Ed Halicki completed the game without help from the bullpen and Al Oliver hit
one over the fence and had 4 RBI as the Elverson Squires topped the
Guthriesville Golddiggers 14-5 at French Creek Park.
Oliver enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He tripled knocking in a run in
the 3rd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 6th
inning. Elverson banged out 18 hits on the night.
Halicki(11-12) got the victory, allowing 5 runs for the game. Andy
Messersmith(8-14) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 3
walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

The phenomenal Lionville team got by the ice-cold Honey Brook Beekeepers at
The Nest. The final score was 6-4.
Lionville erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning plating 3 runs
on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Jerry Martin initiated the scoring
spurt when he doubled. One out later, Jim Wynn came up and he drew a walk.
Greg Luzinski then whacked the ball over the fence for three runs. Joe Torre
came up and he lined a single. Despite losing, Honey Brook out-hit Lionville
10-7.
The winning pitcher was Burt Hooton(17-8) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Joe Sambito was credited with his 6th save. The losing pitcher was
Jerry Koosman(13-10).
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Hooton said.
