Third baseman Steve Ontiveros hit 3 doubles and had 2 RBI at Kimberton
Fairground where the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Kimberton Firefighters 10-4.
John Montefusco(1-0) had a steady outing. He was reached for 7 hits and 3
walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Glenmoore had 15 hits for the game and Kimberton
had 11.
Larry Demery(0-1) was the loser in relief. He was pinned with the loss
despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 and 1/3 innings of work.

Duffy Dyer added four RBIs to his seasonal total with one swing of the bat
as the Guthriesville Golddiggers topped the Chester Springs club 6-2 at
Historic Village Park.
Dyer enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He hit a single in the 2nd inning and
depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run in the 5th
inning. Guthriesville banged out 10 hits on the afternoon.
The victory went to Stan Bahnsen(1-0) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. The losing pitcher was Jim Rooker(0-1). He pitched 9 innings giving up
10 hits and 5 walks.

Darrel Chaney had 4 hits at The Nest as the Eagle Eagles beat the Honey Brook
Beekeepers 9-4.
Eagle started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first scoring one runner utilizing 2 base hits. Eagle simply wore out the
Honey Brook pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
Don Stanhouse(1-0) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Dave
Freisleben(0-1) suffered the loss. He was unable to control the Eagle
offense and allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings.

Mike Schmidt rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Elverson Squires
defeated the Marshallton Mad Hatters 10-7 at French Creek Park.
Schmidt was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He delivered a
one-base hit knocking in a run in the 1st inning, lifted one out of the park
for a two run home run in the 5th inning, ripped a base-hit in the 7th inning
and clubbed a two-run home run in the 8th inning. This was a game of many
highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in
all.
Nino Espinosa(1-0) went 8 innings allowing 7 runs for the victory. Espinosa
got relief help from Mike Garman who gained credit for his 1st save. Rawly
Eastwick(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief.
'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've
paid off,' Schmidt said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't
over-analyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.'

Greg Luzinski slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Lionville ballclub
defeated the Devault Dynamiters 9-7 at Great Valley Stadium.
Luzinski had a big day against Devault. He popped a two-run clout over the
fence in the 5th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 8th inning.
A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Max Leon(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Ron Reed
recorded his 1st save. Joaquin Andujar(0-1) was hit with the loss. He
served up 4 gopher balls in 7 and 2/3 innings.
