Pete Rose hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Eagle Eagles defeated the Devault
Dynamiters 10-3 at Hickory Park.
Rick Reuschel(18-11) had a fairly solid outing. He was reached for 8 hits and
no walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Eagle had 14 hits overall, while Devault had
11.
Lynn McGlothen(11-11) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 7 hits and 5
walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

The Honey Brook Beekeepers pitching staff was overwhelmed by the Glenmoore
Stableboys lineup who plated 11 runs while Mickey Lolich(12-9), with relief
help from Gary Lavelle, held Honey Brook to 1 run.
Glenmoore took the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning scoring a
single run on 2 base hits. Glenmoore banged out 10 hits on the night.
Lolich got help from Lavelle who was credited with his 5th save. The losing
pitcher was Ray Burris(8-22). He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 5 and 1/3
innings.

In a close game the Kimberton Firefighters got by the Chester Springs club in
11 innings 8-6.
Both teams had scored 6 runs after nine full innings. Kimberton won it in the
11th inning. Bill Madlock kicked off the action when he slapped a single.
Pepe Mangual came to the plate and drew a walk. Reggie Smith got his chance
to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Jerry Grote was up next
and he slapped a base-hit to load the bases. George Mitterwald came up to
bat and stroked a one-base hit. This was the kind of game that many fans
love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
Carl Morton(6-7) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Mike
Wallace recorded his 2nd save. Manny Sarmiento(2-2) was charged with the
loss in relief.

Ken Forsch had a strong outing at Hopewell Field as the Guthriesville
Golddiggers beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters 7-5.
Jim Kaat(7-22) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He went
6 innings and surrended up 8 hits and 1 walk. The Marshallton batters didn't
put up a fight in the 9th.
Forsch preserved the game for Kaat, recording his his 22nd. J.R.
Richard(12-13) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around by
Guthriesville, allowing 6 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Steve Carlton carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Lionville
ballclub beat the Elverson Squires 4-2 at Foster Field.
Carlton(19-5) looked very much in control throughout the night. He allowed
only 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Carlton racked up 15 strikeouts. The
left-handed Carlton lost his no-hit bid when Ed Armbrister singled with
nobody out in the 6th inning. Both teams totaled 7 hits on the night.
Elias Sosa(4-3) took the loss in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 2 hits in 2/3
of an inning. Carlton was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot
of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We
got the victory and I'll sure take 15 strikeouts anytime!'
