In an entertaining game at Kimberton Fairground the final score was the
Kimberton Firefighters 4, the Glenmoore Stableboys 1.
Kimberton promptly took the lead in their half of the first as they scored 2
runs on 3 base hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Jim
Lonborg(1-0) and Kimberton. That was all the run support Lonborg required.
Kimberton out-hit Glenmoore for the game, 7-3.
Bob Myrick recorded his 1st save. Floyd Bannister(0-1) was tagged with the
loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.

226 fans watched an exciting game at Historic Village Park. The Chester Springs
ballclub topped the Guthriesville Golddiggers by the slimmest of margins, 6-5.
Guthriesville never recovered after Chester Springs took the lead in the
bottom of the 7th inning when they came up with 2 runs on 1 hit. Chester
Springs had 9 hits overall, while Guthriesville had 5.
Joe Niekro(1-0) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Niekro got
help from Charlie Hough who was credited with his 1st save. Ken Forsch(0-1)
took the loss in relief. His ERA increased from 1.42 to 2.45 as he allowed 2
runs in 1 inning.

In a game at The Nest the Eagle Eagles got by the Honey Brook Beekeepers 9-6.
Pete Rose enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lofted a three-run bomb in the
5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Eagle had 12 hits for the
afternoon.
The win went to Rick Reuschel(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Bill Atkinson earned his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Jerry
Koosman(0-1). Eagle knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 4 and
2/3 innings.

J.R. Richard allowed 3 hits while blanking Elverson at French Creek Park as
the Marshallton Mad Hatters beat the Elverson Squires 1-0.
Richard(1-0) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Elverson
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 3 hits and 4 walks in 9
innings seeing his ERA drop from 1.35 to 0.57. Marshallton banged out 7 hits
on the afternoon.
Ed Halicki(0-1) was charged with the loss. He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and 1 walk.

The Lionville team and the Devault Dynamiters locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Great Valley Stadium. The final score was the Lionville team 5, the
Devault Dynamiters 4 in 10 innings.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Lionville came out
on top in the 10th inning. Fernando Gonzalez began things off when he
blasted a solo shot. Chris Speier came next and he ripped a single. After
an out was recorded, Ted Simmons came up and he doubled. After another out,
Greg Luzinski came to bat and was walked intentionally. Ed Kranepool was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out. Lionville totaled 11 hits on the
afternoon.
The victory went to Ron Reed(1-0) who went 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run.
Tom Griffin(1-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no
walks in 1/3 of an inning.
