Earl Williams lofted one into the 'cheap seats' as the Eagle Eagles topped the
Devault Dynamiters in 13 innings by a score of 8-7 at Hickory Park.
 
Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings.  Eagle came out the
victor in the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Williams hit a
bases-empty home run giving Eagle the win as 568 happy fans joyfully
celebrated.  A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.  
 
Randy Moffitt(9-7) allowed no runs in 4 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Bruce Sutter(4-8) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 1 run and 3
hits in 3 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT GLENMOORE

Johnny Bench had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys defeated
the hopeless Honey Brook Beekeepers 11-7 at Bentley Stadium.
 
In the bottom of the 4th inning Glenmoore went on top for good when they came
up with 4 runs on 3 hits.  Glenmoore had 15 hits for the night while Honey
Brook had 10.  
 
The winning pitcher was John Montefusco(15-11) who allowed 4 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings. Bo McLaughlin earned his 1st save.  Pete Falcone(7-14) took the
loss.  He was touched for 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.  
 
KIMBERTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Dale Murphy had 2 base hits as the Kimberton Firefighters rallied impressively
to win in dramatic style over Chester Springs club, 4-2, at Historic Village Park.
 
Kimberton scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning scoring 4
runners on 3 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Bob Watson who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he doubled plating two runs.  Neither
team was able to score until the 6th inning.  
 
Wayne Twitchell(4-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Twitchell
got help from Skip Lockwood who was credited with his 31st save.  Charlie
Hough(6-10) was the losing pitcher in relief.  
 
'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Hough said. 'The bottom line is I didn't
get the job done.  Our fans deserve better than this.'
 
MARSHALLTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Cesar Cedeno had 2 base hits at Hopewell Field where the Guthriesville
Golddiggers beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters 3-2.
 
Bob Apodaca(8-4) was brilliant in relief and registered the victory.  He
allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 2 innings.  Marshallton threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Ken Forsch recorded his 23rd save.  Tom Underwood(8-8) ended up with the loss.
He pitched 5 innings giving up 6 hits and 1 walk.
 
ELVERSON AT LIONVILLE

Mike Schmidt smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Elverson Squires defeated
the Lionville ballclub 7-4 at Foster Field.
 
The Lionville fans didn't appreciate the big day Schmidt had.  He clubbed a
solo home run in the 1st inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 9th inning.
Lionville was out-hit by Elverson, 13-6.  
 
The victory was credited to Mike Garman(2-5) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Al Hrabosky earned the save, his 19th.  The loss was charged
to Burt Hooton(16-8).  He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12
hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
