The Eagle Eagles nipped the Chester Springs club in 10 innings 8-7 at
Hickory Park in a hard fought contest.
The score was tied at 7 after nine. Eagle came out the victor in the 10th
inning. Dan Driessen drew a walk. Driessen then stole second base. Charlie
Hough then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. After an out was
recorded, Darrel Chaney came to the plate and reached on an error giving
Eagle the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Eagle and Chester
Springs each finished the afternoon with 11 hits.
Gene Pentz(3-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Hough(6-11) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings
and surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.

Jim Kaat tossed a complete game and left fielder Lou Brock had 2 base hits at
The Nest where the Guthriesville Golddiggers beat the pitiful Honey Brook
Beekeepers 7-3.
Guthriesville tallied 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning when they came up
with 5 base hits. That early scoring was all that Kaat(8-22) needed.
Guthriesville totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.
Ray Burris(8-23) suffered the loss. He gave up 10 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings.

Second baseman Craig Reynolds ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Jon Matlack
carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Devault Dynamiters bested the
Kimberton Firefighters 3-2 at Great Valley Stadium.
It was a good day for Devault thanks to Reynolds. He smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' in the 1st inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 6th inning.
Bruce Sutter pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 35th save.
Matlack(16-9) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
The left-handed Matlack lost his chance for a no-hitter when Bob Watson
singled with one out in the 7th inning. Larry Demery(6-8) was given the
loss. He pitched 8 innings allowing only 4 hits and 1 walk.

Mike Schmidt jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the Elverson
Squires defeated the Glenmoore Stableboys 7-4 at French Creek Park.
Dave Heaverlo(3-4) won the game with a masterful relief performance. He did
not allow a hit or a walk in his 1 and 2/3 innings. Elverson finished with
16 hits while Glenmoore ended up with 5.
Dave Tomlin recorded his 5th save. Bo McLaughlin(3-8) was charged with the
loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 5 innings.

Ted Simmons had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Randy Jones was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game as the Lionville ballclub
defeated the Marshallton Mad Hatters 6-1 at Four Dogs Field.
Jones(26-9) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Marshallton batters. He gave up just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.
Lionville finished with 10 hits in the victory.
The losing pitcher was J.R. Richard(12-14). He was hit hard and gave up 8
hits and 6 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
