Shortstop Tim Foli had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and John Denny went 9 solid
innings at Bentley Stadium as the Elverson Squires staged a comeback win over
the Glenmoore Stableboys 6-1.
 
Elverson scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning when they came
up with 6 runs on 4 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Foli who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled bringing in two
baserunners.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.  
 
The victory was credited to Denny(10-11) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Dennis Lewallyn(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  
 
Lewallyn was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away.  What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans.  One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'

Left fielder Richie Zisk had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Devault Dynamiters
defeated the Chester Springs team 9-3 at Historic Village Park.
 
Zisk had a big evening at the plate.  He slapped a one-base hit in the 2nd
inning, doubled in the 4th inning, doubled in the 6th inning and belted a
three-run homer in the 9th inning.  Devault had 17 hits for the night while
Chester Springs had 12.  
 
Lynn McGlothen(11-10) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Jim
Rooker(7-11) ended up with the loss.  He allowed 7 hits and 1 walk in 5
innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Designated hitter Derrel Thomas had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Bob Apodaca had
a strong outing at Hopewell Field where the Guthriesville Golddiggers beat
the Honey Brook Beekeepers in 16 innings 14-13.
 
The game was deadlocked at 13 after nine full innings.  Finally, Guthriesville
pulled the game out in the 16th inning.  After an out was recorded, Dave
Rosello reached on an error.  Don Kessinger next to the plate and he drew a
walk.  Duffy Dyer then slapped a single to load the bases.  Thomas was up
next and he drew a walk giving Guthriesville the win much to the delight of
the home town crowd.  Guthriesville provided plenty of action in the 8th
inning which saw them score 8 runs on 4 hits.  Guthriesville rapped out 20
hits for the night.  
 
Ken Forsch(6-11) went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. The
losing pitcher was Darold Knowles(5-1) in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1
hit without retiring a batter.  
 
MARSHALLTON AT LIONVILLE

Catcher Ted Simmons had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Lionville ballclub won a
dandy at Foster Field over the Marshallton Mad Hatters, 5-4.
 
The game was won by Lionville when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning.  Jerry Morales ripped a one-base hit.  Jim Wynn struck out, unable to
help the rally.  One out later, Morales took second on a stolen base.  Willie
Davis followed next and he doubled giving Lionville the win as 969 happy fans
joyfully celebrated.  Lionville had 13 hits for the game and Marshallton had
8.  
 
Al Downing(2-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Bruce Dal
Canton(2-3) suffered the loss in relief.  He was touched for 6 hits and 3
walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.
