Rick Rhoden came through with a solid 6 and one third innings as the Glenmoore
Stableboys topped the Kimberton Firefighters 1-0 at Bentley Stadium.
Rhoden(2-0) was very good in the win. He gave up just 2 hits and 1 walk in 6
and 1/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.07 to 2.14. Kimberton had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Rhoden got relief help from Gene Garber who gained credit for his 2nd save.
John Candelaria(1-2) took the loss. He pitched 2 and 2/3 innings allowing 4
hits and no walks.

Jim Lonborg had a strong outing as the Kimberton Firefighters beat the
Glenmoore Stableboys 3-0.
Kimberton took the lead for good in the top of the 3rd inning plating an
isolated run. After an out was recorded, George Hendrick drew a walk. Jose
Cruz stepped up next and he laced a one-base hit. Reggie Smith then would
hit into a force play. That was all the offense they were to need.
Kimberton finished with 9 hits while Glenmoore ended up with 2.
Lonborg(2-0) allowed no runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Skip Lockwood was credited with his 3rd save. John Urrea(0-1) was given the
loss.

The Honey Brook Beekeepers and the Eagle Eagles locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Hickory Park. The final score was the Honey Brook Beekeepers
4, the Eagle Eagles 3.
Honey Brook came up with 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning when they came up
with 3 base hits. It was enough scoring to earn the victory. Eagle was
out-hit by Honey Brook, 9-6.
Jerry Koosman(1-1) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Joe
Kerrigan earned his 1st save. Don Sutton(1-1) was charged with the loss.

The Guthriesville Golddiggers nipped the Chester Springs ballclub 4-3 at
Hopewell Field in a hard fought contest.
Guthriesville had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning when
they had 3 base hits. Davey Lopes led off and he lined a single. Lopes took
second on a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Bobby Murcer came to bat
and cleared the fences for a two-run home run. One out later, Enos Cabell
came to the plate and laced a single. Chester Springs made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Buzz Capra(1-0) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Ken Forsch
got the save, his 1st. Tom Seaver(0-2) suffered the loss. Despite losing
Jim Ghoulach was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over this one.
Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one of a dozen
little things go different, and we come out on top.'

907 fans were treated to a fine game at Four Dogs Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Marshallton Mad Hatters won by
the slimmest of margins, 3-2.
Marshallton started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first scoring one runner. Elverson threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.
The win was credited to Paul Moskau(1-0) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Rollie Fingers earned the save, his 3rd. Bob Forsch(1-1) ended up with
the loss.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Moskau, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'

The Devault Dynamiters edged the Lionville club in 12 innings at Foster Field
2-1.
Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Devault pulled
the game out in the 12th inning. Bill Robinson ripped a base-knock. Del
Unser stepped into the batter's box and he grounded into a double play. Dave
Kingman then delivered a solo blast. Devault and Lionville each finished the
afternoon with 7 hits.
Rich Gossage(2-0) went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ron
Reed(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 3 hits and no walks
in 4 innings.

Larry Parrish had 3 base hits as the Devault Dynamiters defeated the Lionville
club 9-7 at Foster Field.
Devault took the lead for keeps in the top of the 7th inning scoring a single
run using 2 hits. Despite scoring in 5 separate innings, Lionville could not
get the win.
Butch Metzger(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Metzger got help from Bruce Sutter who was credited with
his 3rd save. Terry Cornutt(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was
the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
