Shortstop Frank Taveras had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Kimberton
Firefighters rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over the slumping
Marshallton Mad Hatters, 10-9.
Kimberton had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. George Mitterwald led off the inning for
Kimberton when he lashed a single. Jerry Mumphrey followed, but he was set
down on strikes. Reggie Smith then cracked a two-run shot making Kimberton
the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Even though they
scored in 6 different innings, Marshallton was not able to pull off the win.
The victory went to Skip Lockwood(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Rollie Fingers(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief.

At Great Valley Stadium the Honey Brook Beekeepers were battered 7-2 by the
Devault Dynamiters.
Tom Griffin(2-2) pitched a solid game. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 7 and
1/3 innings. Devault managed 7 hits in their victory.
Griffin got help from Bruce Sutter who earned his 7th save. Jerry
Koosman(2-3) was given the loss. He gave up 4 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 1/3
innings.

Center fielder Gary Thomasson had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Jerry Reuss delivered 7
solid innings at Historic Village Park where the Chester Springs team beat the
Elverson Squires 6-0.
Elverson found themselves trailing quickly as the Chester Springs bats came
through in the first inning plating one baserunner using 4 hits. Lenny
Randle doubled. Larry Bowa came to the plate and delivered a base-hit.
Willie McCovey then grounded into a double play. Thomasson followed and he
stroked a single. Dave Winfield stepped into the box and hit a single. That
early scoring was all that Reuss(3-1) needed. After the 4th inning, neither
team was able to score.
The losing pitcher was Jim Barr(2-2). He allowed 6 runs and 12 hits in 7
innings.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT EAGLE

The hometown crowd was rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the Eagle Eagles
staged a comeback win over the reeling Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-4.
Eagle erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 3
hits. Ted Martinez opened up the inning nicely when he ripped a base-hit.
Darrel Chaney stepped up next and he laced a one-base hit. Dave Parker then
drew a walk to load the bases. Bruce Boisclair was up next and he doubled
giving Eagle the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Eagle
finished with 12 hits while Guthriesville ended up with 7.
The win was credited to Bill Atkinson(2-3) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing
no runs. Kent Tekulve(1-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 1
run and 2 hits without retiring a batter.
'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Boisclair noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'
LIONVILLE AT GLENMOORE

Mike Anderson connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI and Bill Bonham had a
complete game as the Glenmoore Stableboys bested the Lionville club 6-1 at
Bentley Stadium.
Glenmoore scored 3 runs in the decisive 4th inning when they came up with 3
base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Anderson who thrilled
the crowd when he lost the ball over the fence for three runs. Glenmoore
banged out 13 hits on the night.
The victory went to Bonham(5-1) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Fred
Holdsworth(0-1) was charged with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits
and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
