With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Kimberton Firefighters rallied to top Eagle Eagles 4-3 at Kimberton Fairground.
Kimberton scored the winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.
Jose Cruz led off the inning for Kimberton when he tripled. Reggie Smith
followed next and he slapped a single. Steve Henderson then cleared the
fences for a two-run home run. Kimberton banged out 7 hits on the night.
Larry Demery(1-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Bill
Atkinson(1-3) ended up with the loss in relief. Rich Pawlak was all smiles
after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but
our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on.
What a sweet win!'

Tom Seaver went 9 strong innings and Willie McCovey had 3 base hits and 2 RBI
at Great Valley Stadium where the seemingly unstoppable Chester Springs club
beat the Devault Dynamiters 6-1.
Seaver(2-2) put on a good performance. He surrendered only 6 hits and no
walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 2.86 to 2.47. Chester Springs had a
total of 11 hits for the game.
Tommy John(2-3) was the loser. He pitched 9 innings giving up 11 hits and 4
walks.In another of a string of victories, Chester Springs knocked extended
their winning streak to 7 games.

Bob Forsch went 7 solid innings as the Elverson Squires defeated the
Guthriesville Golddiggers in 10 innings 5-3 at Hopewell Field.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Elverson won the game in the
10th inning. Steve Garvey kicked off the action when he drew a walk. Garvey
took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Two outs later Wayne
Garrett came up and he banged out a single. Mike Schmidt stepped in and he
drew a walk to load the bases. Vic Harris stepped into the box and lined a
one-base hit. Elverson had 12 hits for the game and Guthriesville had 9.
The victory went to Mike Garman(4-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Ken Forsch(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 4 runs
and 5 hits in 4 innings.

One run was the difference at Four Dogs Field as the Glenmoore Stableboys
defeated the Marshallton Mad Hatters 5-4.
The deciding run was scored by Glenmoore in the 9th. Warren Cromartie ripped
a one-base hit. Howard was safe on a stolen base. One out later, Bake
McBride got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.
Johnny Bench came up and he delivered a base-hit. Willie Montanez was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out. Glenmoore totaled 12 hits on the
night.
Gene Garber(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Rawly
Eastwick(0-3) suffered the loss in relief. Glenmoore continued their winning
ways, with their streak now at 6 games and counting.
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

Designated hitter Greg Luzinski cracked 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Foster
Field where the Lionville team beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 9-4.
It seemed that Honey Brook pitching was serving up softballs for Luzinski to
hit. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 1st inning, lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown' in the 4th inning, doubled bringing in two baserunners
in the 5th inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 7th inning.
Honey Brook was out-hit by Lionville, 15-8.
The win went to Craig Swan(2-1) who allowed 4 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Ray
Burris(0-4) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around by Lionville,
allowing 13 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Luzinski said. 'Whenever
I would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
