At Hickory Park the Chester Springs ballclub were battered 12-7 by the
Eagle Eagles.
 
Pete Rose had a great day at the plate.  He had the crowd cheering his every
move.  He doubled scoring two baserunners in the 3rd inning, cleared the
fences for a two-run home run in the 7th inning and slapped a base-hit which
was good for two runs in the 8th inning.  Eagle out-hit Chester Springs for
the game, 14-11.  
 
The win went to Don Stanhouse(2-1) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Bill Atkinson preserved the game for Stanhouse, recording his his 3rd.  Jim
Rooker(0-3) was the loser.  He was unable to control the Eagle offense and
allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.  
 
'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've
paid off,' Rose said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't
overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.'
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

Clay Carroll came through with a solid 3 and two third innings as the
Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the Marshallton Mad Hatters by a score of
8-3 at Four Dogs Field.
 
Carroll(1-0) came on to close the door tight in relief.  He did not allow a
hit or a walk in his 3 and 2/3 innings dropping his ERA from 0.96 to 0.69.
Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the night.  
 
Charlie Williams(1-2) took the loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 4 hits in 6
and 1/3 innings.
 
GLENMOORE AT HONEY BROOK

Second baseman Dave Cash had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Mark Lemongello pitched
a complete game at The Nest as the Honey Brook Beekeepers beat the Glenmoore
Stableboys 7-3.
 
Lemongello(2-1) gave Honey Brook a solid outing.  He allowed only 6 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.83.  Honey Brook had 10 hits for the
night.  
 
Rick Rhoden(2-1) suffered the loss.  He pitched 5 innings allowing 6 hits and
3 walks.

Al Oliver hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Elverson Squires won a
heart-stopping victory over the Lionville club, 7-6.
 
The game was won by Elverson with a run in the 9th inning.  After an out was
recorded, Steve Garvey lashed a single.  Mike Schmidt followed next and he
delivered a base-hit.  Joe Ferguson then would hit into a force play making
Elverson the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Elverson
rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Mike Garman(3-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Ron Reed(1-3)
ended up with the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in 1 and 1/3
innings.
