At Kimberton Fairground the Elverson Squires were battered 10-3 by the
Kimberton Firefighters.
George Hendrick hit a grand slam homerun to key a 7-run 2nd inning for the
hosts. Jim Lonborg(3-1) delivered a fine performance for Kimberton. He allowed
7 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Kimberton totaled 8 hits on the
afternoon.
John Denny(0-1) was the loser. He surrendered 3 hits and 4 walks in 1 and 1/3
innings.

In a game at Great Valley Stadium the Devault Dynamiters got by the
Marshallton Mad Hatters 6-3.
Jon Matlack(3-1) gave a fine effort for Devault. He went 8 innings
surrendering 8 hits and 2 walks. Matlack whiffed an impressive total of 9
Marshallton batters. Devault had 11 hits for the afternoon while Marshallton
had 8.
Bruce Sutter preserved the game for Matlack, recording his his 8th. Tom
Underwood(2-1) ended up with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9
hits and 4 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

Dave Winfield had 2 base hits as the Chester Springs ballclub outscored the
Honey Brook Beekeepers 3-1.
Phil Niekro(4-1) gave Chester Springs a solid outing. He surrendered 7 hits
and 2 walks in 8 innings. Although they lost, Honey Brook did out-hit
Chester Springs 8 to 5.
Charlie Hough was credited with his 6th save. Mark Lemongello(2-3) took the
loss. Chester Springs continued on their recent roll, their winning streak
now reaching 6 games and counting. 'Everything seems to be going right for
us' said Jim Ghoulach. 'I've got the easiest job in the league right now!'

Warren Cromartie had 2 base hits and Rick Rhoden went the distance as the
Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-2 at Hopewell
Field.
Glenmoore came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning scoring
2 runs using 4 hits. Johnny Bench led off and he doubled. Willie Montanez
was next and he ripped a single. Biff Pocoroba then slapped a single. After
an out was recorded, John Hale stepped up to the plate and he doubled. One
out later, Rob Andrews was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.
Glenmoore finished with 14 hits in the victory.
The win was credited to Rhoden(3-1) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
The losing pitcher was Steve Rogers(3-2). He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits
and 4 walks in 7 innings.

The Eagle Eagles and the Lionville club locked up in an exciting one-run game
at Hickory Park. The final score was the Eagle Eagles 5, Lionville 4.
Dick Ruthven(2-2) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance.
He didn't give up much, just 1 hit and no walks in 3 innings lowering his ERA
to 3.51. Lionville threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Bill Atkinson earned the save, his 5th. Bruce Kison(1-3) was charged with the
loss. He pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 walks.
