Center fielder Reggie Smith connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI at Great
Valley Stadium where the Kimberton Firefighters beat the Devault Dynamiters 9-3.
Kimberton wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring a
single run. Jose Cruz drew a walk. Jerry Turner got his turn next, but he
was a strikeout victim. Bob Watson then hit a single. Smith was up next and
he would hit into a force play. Manny Trillo stepped into the box and drew a
walk. Kimberton out-hit Devault for the game, 14-8.
John Candelaria(2-2) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Randy
Lerch(0-3) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 5 hits and 3 walks in 2 and
2/3 innings.

Rick Monday had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Phil Niekro went the distance as the
Chester Springs ballclub bested the Eagle Eagles 10-2 at Hickory Park.
Niekro(1-1) was very good in the win. He gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.00 to 2.73. Chester Springs had a total
of 13 hits for the game.
Mike Krukow(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around by Chester
Springs, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.

First baseman Mike Ivie had 2 base hits as the Marshallton Mad Hatters
defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers 3-2 at Four Dogs Field.
J.R. Richard(2-1) pitched a solid game. He was reached for 5 hits and 1 walk
in 7 innings. Richard struck out 8 Guthriesville batters. Rollie Fingers
came through with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 4th save.
The losing pitcher was Larry Christenson(0-4). He allowed 6 hits and 1 walk
in 6 and 1/3 innings.

Steve Ontiveros smashed 2 homeruns and Bob Owchinko completed the game without
help from the bullpen at The Nest as the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Honey
Brook Beekeepers 12-4.
Ontiveros had a great evening at the plate. He laced a base-knock bringing in
a run in the 3rd inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 5th inning,
cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 6th inning and stroked a
one-base hit in the 9th inning. Glenmoore rapped out 14 hits for the night.
Owchinko(2-1), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The loss
was charged to Ray Burris(0-3). He allowed Glenmoore 5 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings of work.
'I was really seeing the ball tonight,' Ontiveros said 'I wish it was always
this easy.'

First baseman Steve Garvey slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Doug Rau tossed
a complete game at French Creek Park as the Elverson Squires beat the
Lionville team by the count of 7-2.
Elverson took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating one
baserunner. Joe Ferguson drew a walk. John Milner next to the plate and he
drew a walk. Ellis Valentine then laid down a sacrifice bunt. After another
out, Tim Foli came to bat and lined a single. Elverson banged out 11 hits on
the afternoon.
Rau(2-0) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Craig Swan(1-1) was
tagged with the loss. He gave up 6 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
