Fred Norman hurled a fine complete game shutout and right fielder Reggie Smith
knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Kimberton Firefighters defeated the
Elverson Squires 7-0 at Kimberton Fairground.
Smith had a big day at the plate. He clubbed a two-run home run in the 1st
inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 5th inning. Kimberton
totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.
Norman(2-2) was credited with the shutout. Jim Barr(2-3) absorbed the loss.
He served up 3 gopher balls in 5 and 2/3 innings.

In a good matchup it was the Devault Dynamiters 4, the Marshallton Mad Hatters
1 at Great Valley Stadium.
Marshallton found themselves trailing quickly as the Devault bats came through
in the first inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits. Marshallton
threatened in the 9th but Devault was able to put down the rally.
Joaquin Andujar(1-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Bruce Sutter
gained credit for his 9th save. Charlie Williams(1-3) ended up with the
loss.

Ray Burris allowed just 3 hits and Terry Whitfield had 4 hits as the Honey
Brook Beekeepers beat the Chester Springs team 8-1.
Honey Brook scored 7 runs in the 7th inning with the help of 5 hits. The big
moment was provided by Steve Swisher who helped quiet the crowd when he
caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun. Honey Brook banged
out 10 hits on the afternoon.
The win went to Burris(1-5) who allowed 1 run in the game. The loss was
charged to Jack Billingham(3-2). He allowed 5 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.
'Burris took our guys to school' Jim Ghoulach said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch
for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!'

In a dramatic ending the Glenmoore Stableboys staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Guthriesville Golddiggers 7-3.
Glenmoore came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning when they
tallied 6 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Bake
McBride who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he smacked a
single bringing home two baserunners. Glenmoore ended up with 9 hits for the
game while Guthriesville had 6.
The win was credited to John Urrea(2-1) who went 8 innings allowing 2 runs.
The losing pitcher was Ken Forsch(0-3) in relief.
Gary Scott was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Barry Bentley will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
LIONVILLE AT EAGLE

Ted Simmons went deep and had 3 RBI as the Lionville ballclub defeated the
Eagle Eagles 7-5 at Hickory Park.
Lionville jumped on top of Eagle in the top of the 4th inning scoring one
runner on 2 base hits. Eagle was out-hit by Lionville, 16 hits to 8.
The victory was credited to Steve Carlton(5-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Carlton was helped out by Ron Reed who recorded his 2nd
save. Rick Reuschel(3-1) was given the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 11
hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Carlton, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
