Pete Rose had 4 hits as the Eagle Eagles bested the Kimberton Firefighters in
14 innings 6-4 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings.  Eagle won the game in
the 14th inning.  After an out was recorded, Rose started the rally when he
delivered a single.  George Foster came to the plate and ripped a base-knock.
After another out, Dan Driessen came to bat and was walked intentionally to
load the bases.  Glenn Burke followed and he doubled.  The Kimberton batters
went down meekly in the bottom of the 14th.  
 
The win went to Gene Pentz(1-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Dan
Larson(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings
allowing 3 hits and 1 walk.

The Kimberton Firefighters broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling 
out a 4-3 win over the Eagle Eagles and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
 
The game was won by Kimberton when they scored a run in the 9th inning.  After
an out was recorded, Manny Trillo banged out a single.  After another out,
Frank Taveras came to the plate and tripled resulting in an exciting win for
Kimberton and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Kimberton totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Skip Lockwood(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Don
Stanhouse(2-2) was the loser.  He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 8 and 2/3
innings.

In a good matchup it was the Devault Dynamiters 7, the Chester Springs team 4
at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Chester Springs fell behind quickly as the Devault offense came through in the
first inning when they tallied 3 runs on 3 hits.  The critical plate
appearance was by Gary Carter who brought a roar from the partisan Great
Valley Stadium fans when he cracked a two-run shot.  Devault had 11 hits
overall, while Chester Springs had 7.  
 
The victory was credited to Jon Matlack(2-1) who went 5 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Matlack was helped out by Bruce Sutter who recorded his 5th
save.  Jerry Reuss(2-1) was given the loss.  He was unable to control the
Devault offense and allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

The Elverson Squires cruised to a 14-9 victory over the Guthriesville
Golddiggers at Hopewell Field.
 
Gary Alexander enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He smacked a single in the 2nd
inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 3rd inning and popped a two-run
clout over the fence in the 9th inning.  Guthriesville scored in 5 different
innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Dave Heaverlo(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Elias Sosa recorded the save, his 1st.  Kent Tekulve(1-2) was charged with
the loss in relief.  He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 2 and 2/3
innings.  
 
GLENMOORE AT MARSHALLTON

John Urrea had a strong outing at Four Dogs Field as the seemingly unstoppable
Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters 6-3.
 
Urrea(1-1) looked very much in control throughout the day.  He gave up just 5
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.  Marshallton could do no damage in the bottom
of the 9th.  
 
Paul Moskau(1-1) suffered the loss.  He surrendered 2 hits and 2 walks in 2/3
of an inning.  Glenmoore continued their winning ways, with their streak now
at 8 games and counting.
 
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

At Foster Field the Lionville ballclub scored 5 runs in the 1st inning and
outscored the Honey Brook Beekeepers 6-3.
 
Honey Brook found themselves trailing quickly as the Lionville bats came
through in the first inning when they scored 5 runs on 5 hits.  That was all
the runs Burt Hooton(1-2) needed.  Honey Brook threatened in the 9th but
Lionville was able to put down the rally.  
 
Mark Lemongello(2-2) was hit with the loss.  'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said
Chris McLaughlin 'but it's losing the close ones that really hurt.'
