At Kimberton Fairground the Kimberton Firefighters easily handled the Eagle
Eagles 5-1.
 
Wayne Twitchell(1-2) earned his pay with a solid performance for Kimberton.
He went 6 and 2/3 innings and surrended up 6 hits and 1 walk improving his
ERA from 5.02 to 3.86.  Eagle was out-hit by Kimberton, 11-7.
 
Guillermo Hernandez gained credit for his 1st save.  Pat Zachry(0-2) ended up
with the loss.  He pitched 5 innings and surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk.

Bo McLaughlin went 3 and two third solid innings as the smoking-hot Chester
Springs club defeated the ice-cold Devault Dynamiters in 10 innings 4-2 at 
Great Valley Stadium.
 
The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Chester Springs came out on top in the
10th inning.  Dave Rader opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk.
Terry Puhl stepped into the batter's box and he stroked a one-base hit.  Dave
Winfield then reached on an error.  After another out, Jose Cardenal stepped
up to the plate and he hit a sacrifice fly.  Both teams ended up with 7 hits
on the afternoon.  
 
McLaughlin(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. The loss
was charged to Rick Sawyer(0-2) in relief.  No one has been able to stop
Chester Springs lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 8 games.

Jim Barr pitched a 2 hit shutout as the Elverson Squires ballclub embarrassed
the Guthriesville Golddiggers 10-0.
 
Barr(2-1) was tremendous on the mound for Elverson.  He didn't give up much,
just 2 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  Elverson totaled 10 hits on the
night.  
 
Buzz Capra(1-2) was the losing pitcher.  He was touched for 3 homeruns in his
7 innings of work.
 
GLENMOORE AT MARSHALLTON

In a close game the red-hot Glenmoore Stableboys got by the Marshallton Mad
Hatters 6-4.
 
Bill Bonham(4-1) delivered a fine performance for Glenmoore.  He went 7
innings allowing 6 hits and 4 walks.  Although they lost, Marshallton did
out-hit Glenmoore 10-7.  
 
Bonham got relief help from Gene Garber who gained credit for his 4th save.
J.R. Richard(2-3) absorbed the loss.  With the win, Glenmoore continued their
winning ways; their streak now stands at 7 games and counting. Barry Bentley
was in a talkative mood after the ballgame.  'Fellows, I don't know what to
tell you. our guys are just playing lights out lately.  Everything and
everybody is just really hitting on all cylinders.  I know it can't last
forever - but that isn't going to stop us from trying!'
 
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

Randy Jones tossed a fine 3 hitter at Foster Field as the Lionville ballclub
beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 2-1.
 
Lionville tallied 2 runs in the 2nd inning.  That was all the offense they
were to need.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team
was able to score again.  
 
Jones(2-1) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. The losing pitcher
was Jerry Koosman(2-2).  He gave up 2 runs and 7 hits in 5 innings.  
 
'Jones just dominated us' losing pitcher Koosman said.  'Hopefully we can get
to him the next time around'
