Willie McCovey slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Chester Springs ballclub
bested the Devault Dynamiters 7-4 at Historic Village Park.
 
Jerry Reuss(1-0) pitched a fine game.  He went 7 and 2/3 innings surrendering
7 hits and 1 walk.  Both teams totaled 8 hits on the night.  
 
Charlie Hough recorded his 3rd save.  Tommy John(1-2) was the loser.  He was
not very effective, surrendering 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.  
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

Cesar Cedeno jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI at The Nest where
the Guthriesville Golddiggers beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 9-3.
 
Cedeno had a big evening at the plate.  He doubled scoring a run in the 1st
inning, doubled which scored a run in the 5th inning and cracked a solo
homerun in the 9th inning.  Guthriesville managed 11 hits in their victory.
 
Stan Bahnsen(2-0) allowed 2 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Ken Forsch gained credit for his 2nd save.  Dave Freisleben(0-2)
absorbed the loss.  Guthriesville knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7
runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.  
 
GLENMOORE AT ELVERSON

At French Creek Park the Elverson Squires registered 5 runs in the 1st inning
and outscored the Glenmoore Stableboys 8-5.
 
Dave Tomlin(1-0) was the winning pitcher in relief.  He surrendered no hits
and 2 walks in 1 inning.  Glenmoore out-hit Elverson 13 to 8, but Elverson
ended up with more runs.  
 
Tomlin got help from Mike Garman who earned his 4th save.  Gary Lavelle(0-2)
was charged with the loss in relief.  He pitched 5 innings giving up only 1
hit and 1 walk.
 
LIONVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

At Four Dogs Field the Marshallton Mad Hatters were battered 6-1 by the
Lionville club.
 
Steve Carlton(2-1) was solid in the win.  He allowed just 3 hits and 6 walks
in 8 innings reducing his ERA from 4.50 to 3.60.  Marshallton was out-hit by
Lionville, 9-3.  
 
The loss was charged to Bob Shirley(2-1).  He allowed 5 runs and 6 hits in 6
and 1/3 innings.
