Center fielder Jose Cruz went deep and had 4 RBI as the Kimberton Firefighters
defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers 7-6 at Kimberton Fairground.
It was a good day for Kimberton thanks to Cruz. He laced a base-hit which
plated a run in the 3rd inning, tripled scoring two baserunners in the 5th
inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 7th inning. Guthriesville
tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Eric Rasmussen(1-1) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win.
Rasmussen got help from Skip Lockwood who was credited with his 2nd save.
Larry Christenson(0-2) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around
pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
When questioned about the loss, Gary Scott said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'

First baseman Willie Montanez had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Great Valley Stadium as
the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Devault Dynamiters 8-2.
Glenmoore brought 4 runs across the plate in the top of the 3rd inning when
they had 5 base hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Bill
Bonham(2-0) and Glenmoore. That was all the run support Bonham required.
For the game Glenmoore out-hit Devault 14-10.
Randy Lerch(0-1) took the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving
up 10 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings.

George Foster had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Eagle Eagles defeated the
Elverson Squires 6-5 at Hickory Park.
Don Sutton(1-0) pitched a solid game. He went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 8
hits and 2 walks and was touched for 2 homeruns. Neither team managed to
score after the 3rd inning.
Sutton got help from Bill Atkinson who earned his 2nd save. Jim Barr(0-1) was
given the loss. He gave up 6 runs and 6 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.

At Four Dogs Field the Marshallton Mad Hatters outdistanced the Honey Brook
Beekeepers 6-2.
Marshallton took the lead for good in the 2nd inning plating an isolated run
using 2 hits. Marshallton out-hit Honey Brook for the game, 12-6.
The win was credited to Tom Underwood(1-0) who went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing
2 runs. Rawly Eastwick recorded the save, his 2nd. Mark Lemongello(0-1) was
the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3
innings.

The Chester Springs team edged the Lionville ballclub in 10 innings at
Historic Village Park 4-3.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Chester Springs won the
game in the 10th inning. After two were out Dave Winfield delivered a
single. Winfield took his lead and swiped second. Rick Monday then doubled
making Chester Springs the winners and sending the 322 fans home happy.
Overall Chester Springs out-hit Lionville 11-7.
The win went to Jack Billingham(1-1) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Ron Reed(1-1) suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 3 hits
in 2 innings.
