Jerry Reuss delivered 6 and one third solid innings and Jose Cardenal had 3
base hits as the Chester Springs club bested the Eagle Eagles 3-2 at
Hickory Park.
 
Reuss(7-5) delivered a fine performance for Chester Springs. He was reached
for 2 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings.  Eagle threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.  
 
Reuss got help from Charlie Hough who was credited with his 24th save.  Rick
Reuschel(10-8) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 7 hits and no walks in 8
and 2/3 innings.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

Cesar Cedeno had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Andy Messersmith tossed a fine 3 hitter
as the Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the Honey Brook Beekeepers 6-2 at 
The Nest.
 
Guthriesville brought 5 runs across the plate in the 7th inning when they had
6 base hits.  It was enough to earn the victory.  Guthriesville managed 13
hits in their victory.  
 
The win was credited to Messersmith(5-8) who went the whole way allowing 2
runs. John D'Acquisto(1-3) took the loss in relief.  He was unable to retire
a batter allowing 1 hit and no walks.
 
 
DEVAULT AT KIMBERTON

Bill Madlock had 2 base hits as the Kimberton Firefighters outscored the
Devault Dynamiters 6-3.
 
Kimberton promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they scored 3
runs on 4 hits.  Kimberton totaled 13 hits on the night.  
 
Fred Norman(3-7) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Joaquin
Andujar(3-7) was given the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 12 hits
and 6 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  
 
 
GLENMOORE AT ELVERSON

Rick Rhoden(6-5) and Jim Barr(9-10) treated the Elverson fans to a fine
pitching duel at French Creek Park.  The Glenmoore Stableboys eventually
emerged as victors over the Elverson Squires 2-1.
 
Rhoden gave a fine effort for Glenmoore.  He went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 6
hits and 2 walks lowering his ERA to 4.39.  Neither team managed to score
after the 2nd inning.  
 
Gene Garber recorded his 19th save.
 
LIONVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

Ron Cey cracked a homer and had 2 RBI at Four Dogs Field as the impressive
Marshallton Mad Hatters beat the Lionville ballclub 7-2.
 
Gary Nolan(9-7) pitched a fine game.  He went 7 and 2/3 innings and surrendered
up 7 hits and 1 walk.  Marshallton ended up with 11 hits for the game while
Lionville had 8.  
 
The losing pitcher was Burt Hooton(10-4).  He was knocked around by
Marshallton, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.  Marshallton
continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 6 games and counting.
'It seems we can't lose these days', John Young volunteered after the game.
Then after a moment to reflect he lamented, 'Oh great! Now I've gone and
jinxed us!'
