The Guthriesville Golddiggers edged the Elverson Squires at French Creek Park
4-3.
 
Alan Foster(1-3) pitched well in relief and was credited with the victory.  He
allowed no hits and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.  Elverson made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.  
 
Foster was helped out by Ken Forsch who recorded his 15th save.  Jim
Barr(9-11) was hit with the loss.  He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3
innings.  
 
KIMBERTON AT EAGLE

At Hickory Park the Kimberton Firefighters easily handled the Eagle Eagles 7-3.
 
Eagle was unable to claim the lead after Kimberton went ahead in the top of
the 7th inning as they scored 3 runs on 3 base hits.  The crucial at-bat was
provided by Bob Watson who helped quiet the crowd when he laced a base-knock
plating two runs.  Kimberton rapped out 12 hits for the night.  
 
Don Carrithers(4-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Chip Lang(3-2) was given the loss in relief.  
 
 
GLENMOORE AT MARSHALLTON

893 fans were treated to a fine game at Four Dogs Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Glenmoore Stableboys won by the
slimmest of margins, 2-1.
 
Rick Rhoden(7-5) pitched well for Glenmoore in their victory.  He went 7 and
2/3 innings and surrended up 7 hits and 3 walks dropping his ERA from 4.39 to
4.07.  Marshallton had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Gary Lavelle earned the save, his 2nd.  Rawly Eastwick(4-5) was tagged with
the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 4 hits and
3 walks.
 
John Young was clearly disappointed after the game.  'It was a manager's
nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'
 
DEVAULT AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Bill Robinson left the yard as the Devault Dynamiters bested the Chester
Springs ballclub 6-4 at Historic Village Pk.
 
Devault scored 2 runs in the decisive top of the 4th inning when they had 3
base hits.  They would hold up as the winning runs.  Chester Springs
threatened in the 9th but Devault was able to put down the rally.  
 
The victory was credited to Joaquin Andujar(4-7) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Andujar got help from Bruce Sutter who earned his 20th save.
The loss was charged to Bob Moose(3-2).  He was unable to control the
Devault offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.  
 
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Andujar said.  'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'

The Lionville team got by the Honey Brook Beekeepers at The Nest.  The final
score was 4-2.
 
Lionville jumped on top of Honey Brook in the 7th inning plating an isolated
run on 3 hits.  Honey Brook had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
 
The winning pitcher was Burt Hooton(11-4) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Ron Reed recorded his 11th save.  Doc Medich(3-6) was the loser.
