Catcher Steve Yeager had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Brent Strom delivered 8
solid innings as the Marshallton Mad Hatters topped the Glenmoore Stableboys
in 15 innings 5-4 at Bentley Stadium.
 
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Marshallton won the
hard fought contest in the 15th inning.  Bill Buckner ripped a base-knock.
After an out was recorded, Roger Metzger stepped up to the plate and he
tripled.  One out later, Ken Griffey came to bat and drew a walk.
Marshallton finished with 16 hits in the victory.  
 
The victory went to Steve Dunning(7-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs.
Adrian Devine gained credit for his 7th save.  Gene Garber(2-3) was the
losing pitcher in relief.

Pepe Mangual had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Kimberton Fairground where the
Kimberton Firefighters beat the Eagle Eagles 3-2.
 
Mike Wallace(2-2) pitched in relief and was credited with the victory.  He
went 1 inning allowing 1 hit and 2 walks improving his ERA from 4.79 to 4.57.
Eagle threatened in the 9th but Kimberton was able to put down the rally.
 
Skip Lockwood earned the save, his 24th.  Pat Zachry(8-8) took the loss. 'Some
losses are harder to take than others' Bob Phillips lamented after the game.
'This was one of them.'
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT DEVAULT

Dave Kingman smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Tommy John was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Devault
Dynamiters defeated the Chester Springs ballclub 11-2 at Great Valley
Stadium.
 
Kingman enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 1st inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 7th inning.  Devault totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The victory was credited to John(8-8) who went the distance, allowing 2 runs.
Jim Rooker(4-9) was charged with the loss.  He served up 5 gopher balls in 6
and 2/3 innings.  
 
ELVERSON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Right fielder Bobby Murcer slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the
Guthriesville Golddiggers outscored the Elverson Squires 5-4.
 
The Guthriesville fans enjoyed the offense provided by Murcer.  He lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown' in the 4th inning, lined a one-base hit in the 5th
inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 7th inning.  This was a game of
many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5
times in all.  
 
Steve Rogers(6-9) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Rogers got help from Ken Forsch who was credited with his 18th save.  The
losing pitcher was Doug Rau(10-8).  
 
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Gary Scott sighed.  'That win feels like a tall, cool
drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
 
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

The Lionville club cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Honey Brook Beekeepers
at Foster Field.
 
Lionville came up with 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning when they came
up with 4 base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Chris Speier
who brought the crowd to their feet when he tripled which was good for two
runs.  Lionville ended up with 11 hits for the game while Honey Brook had 6.
 
The win went to Steve Carlton(14-4) who allowed 1 run in 8 innings. Joe
Sambito earned his 3rd save.  Pete Falcone(5-12) was given the loss.  He was
pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 5 and 1/3
innings of work.
