Glenmoore scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they had 6 base hits. That early scoring was all that Rhoden(8-5) needed. Glenmoore rapped out 14 hits for the night. Lonborg(10-9) pitched a solid game. He surrendered 11 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Kimberton managed 14 hits in their victory. The loss was charged to Phil Niekro(9-10). He gave up 6 runs and 5 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. Sutton(11-6) dominated Devault hitters. He surrendered only 1 hit and 1 walk in 8 innings. Eagle finished with 11 hits while Devault ended up with 3. Randy Moffitt was credited with his 24th save. Lynn McGlothen(7-7) was charged with the loss. He pitched 7 innings giving up 9 hits and 1 walk. Marshallton scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 3 base hits. Griffey led off and started the rally when he doubled. After another out, Ron Cey got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Pete Lacock then doubled. Joe Wallis was up next and he doubled. Guthriesville could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th. The victory went to Steve Dunning(6-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Dunning got help from Rawly Eastwick who was credited with his 29th save. Bob Apodaca(6-4) was the loser in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 2 innings. ELVERSON AT LIONVILLE Squires......... 0 0 2 0 0 0 4 0 1 - 7 12 0 Tiger-Cats...... 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 - 1 8 1 Win:Rau(10-7) Loss:Swan(4-5) Homeruns- M.Schmidt(22nd) Doug Rau went the distance at Foster Field as the Elverson Squires beat the Lionville team 7-1. Elverson jumped on top of Lionville in the 3rd inning with 2 runs using 3 hits. Ellis Valentine led off and started the attack as he delivered a single. Two outs later Mike Schmidt came to bat and smashed a two-run homer. Steve Garvey then doubled. That scoring would be all that was needed. Elverson had a total of 12 hits for the game. The winning pitcher was Rau(10-7) who allowed 1 run for the game. Craig Swan(4-5) took the loss.
