Bob Forsch carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Elverson Squires
bested the Glenmoore Stableboys 3-1 at Bentley Stadium.
 
Dave Heaverlo(2-3) contributed a very nice performance in relief.  He didn't
allow much, just 2 hits and no walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.  The right-handed
Forsch lost a no-hitter when Larry Herndon singled with nobody out in the 6th
inning.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.  
 
Heaverlo got relief help from Al Hrabosky who gained credit for his 10th save.
Bo McLaughlin(2-5) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered only 2 runs and 4
hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.  
 
KIMBERTON AT DEVAULT

Dan Warthen had a strong outing as the Devault Dynamiters defeated the
Kimberton Firefighters in 10 innings 6-5 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
The score was tied at 5 after nine.  Devault was victorious in the 10th
inning.  Bill Robinson lined a base-hit.  Richie Zisk next to the plate and
he hit a single.  Zisk took second on the throw.  Tony Perez then banged out
a single resulting in an exciting win for Devault and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans.  Both teams finished the game with 9 hits.
 
Warthen(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. John
Candelaria(12-4) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs and 8 hits in 9
innings.

Dave Parker had 5 hits and 2 RBI at Historic Village Park where the Eagle
Eagles beat the Chester Springs team 11-3.
 
Rick Reuschel(11-8) pitched a fine game.  He surrendered 9 hits and 4 walks in
8 innings.  Eagle lit up the scoreboard in the 1st inning with 3 runs and the
8th inning which saw them score 3 runs on 4 hits.  Eagle dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.  
 
Tom Seaver(10-3) was tagged with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 17 hits
and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Keith Hernandez hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Guthriesville Golddiggers
defeated the Honey Brook Beekeepers 4-2 at Hopewell Field.
 
Honey Brook surrendered all of the runs Guthriesville needed in the 4th inning
when they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by
Hernandez who made the crowd happy when he cracked a two-run shot.
Guthriesville totaled 8 hits on the night.  
 
Andy Messersmith(6-8) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Ken
Forsch recorded the save, his 17th.  The loss was charged to Pete
Falcone(5-11).  
 
MARSHALLTON AT LIONVILLE

Bruce Kison pitched a 3-hitter as the Lionville club outscored the Marshallton
Mad Hatters 3-1.
 
Lionville went ahead for good in the 7th inning plating an isolated run on 3
hits.  Lionville rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.  
 
The win went to Kison(11-4) who allowed 1 run in the game. Steve Renko(7-6)
was given the loss.  He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 1
walk.
 
When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Renko was lavish in his
praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long
night.  Kison brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able
to spot it perfectly.  He probably only made one or two bad pitches the
entire game!
