Jerry Mumphrey had 3 base hits as the Kimberton Firefighters topped the Eagle
Eagles in 10 innings 5-4 at Hickory Park.
 
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Kimberton
prevailed in the 10th inning.  Mumphrey ripped a single.  Greg Gross stepped
up to the plate and he singled.  Reggie Smith then drew a walk to load the
bases.  Bill Madlock followed and he hit a deep fly.  Kimberton rapped out 11
hits for the afternoon.  
 
The victory was credited to Skip Lockwood(3-2) who went 2 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Mike Marshall(6-4) in relief.

Larry Bowa had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Chester Springs ballclub won in
dramatic fashion over the Devault Dynamiters 3-2 at Historic Village Park.
 
Chester Springs erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th
inning plating 2 runs on 2 base hits.  Rennie Stennett led off and started
the rally when he lashed a single.  Jerry Royster was next and he drew a
walk.  Bobby Valentine then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Jose Cardenal came
up and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Bowa stepped into the
box and slapped a single giving Chester Springs the victory and sending the
431 home-town fans home happy.  Both teams finished the game with 9 hits.
 
Joe Niekro(5-5) got the win allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Bruce
Sutter(3-5) was the losing pitcher in relief.  'We just wouldn't give up,'
Bowa said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole
way.'
