Mickey Lolich(6-7) had a solid outing for Glenmoore. He went 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 walks. Elverson threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Lolich was helped out by Gene Garber who recorded his 22nd save. Ed Halicki(7-9) took the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 15 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. Kimberton scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning when they scored 4 runs on 4 hits. Overall Kimberton out-hit Devault 15-6. Don Carrithers(5-7) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Skip Lockwood got the save, his 23rd. The losing pitcher was Butch Metzger(2-4) in relief. Metzger was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get away. Dick Ruthven(8-7) pitched a solid game. He went 8 innings surrendering 8 hits and 1 walk and gave up 2 homeruns. Randy Moffitt was perfect in relief and got the save, his 23rd. Jerry Reuss(8-6) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around by Eagle, allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. The final score was 5-3. Eagle scored 3 runs in the 7th inning when they had 3 base hits. Pete Rose led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Felix Millan came up and he reached on an error. Darrel Chaney then ripped a base-knock to load the bases. Bud Harrelson followed and he laced a base-knock. George Foster came up to bat and ripped a base-hit. Eagle totaled 10 hits on the afternoon. Chip Lang(4-2) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Ramon Hernandez earned the save, his 6th. Dale Murray(0-7) was hit with the loss in relief. HONEY BROOK AT GUTHRIESVILLE Beekeepers...... 2 0 3 0 1 1 0 3 1 - 11 12 0 Golddiggers..... 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 - 1 5 1 Win:Burris(8-16) Loss:Dierker(5-10) In an embarrassing outing for the hapless Guthriesville Golddiggers pitching staff, Honey Brook Beekeepers flexed their collective muscle amassing 11 runs as Ray Burris(8-16), with relief help from Santo Alcala, held Guthriesville to 1 run. Willie Stargell had a big day against Guthriesville. He doubled which was good for two runs in the 1st inning, delivered a base-hit which brought home a run in the 3rd inning and doubled in the 5th inning. Honey Brook had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings. The loss was charged to Larry Dierker(5-10). He was unable to control the Honey Brook offense and allowed 10 hits and 7 walks in 7 innings. 'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Chris McLaughlin sighed. 'That win feels like a tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.' Lionville came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning plating 2 runs on 2 hits. Ed Kranepool started the inning off right when he lined a base-hit. Morales was next and he smashed a two-run homer. Lionville finished with 11 hits while Marshallton ended up with 7. Steve Carlton(13-4) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Ron Reed was credited with his 12th save. Rawly Eastwick(4-6) took the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 1 inning. Lionville came up with 4 runs in the 3rd inning when they came up with 5 base hits. That early scoring held up. Lionville had a total of 12 hits for the game. Joe Sambito(5-2) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Sambito got help from Max Leon who was credited with his 2nd save. The losing pitcher was Tom Underwood(7-3). He got hammered, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.
