Willie Crawford had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys
outscored the Marshallton Mad Hatters 5-4.
 
Glenmoore tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they came up
with 3 base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Crawford who made
the crowd come alive when he doubled scoring two baserunners.  Marshallton
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Bill Bonham(5-8) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 5 innings. Gene Garber
recorded the save, his 24th.  J.R. Richard(10-9) was the loser.  John Young
was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of loss takes a
while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals.  We've been through
this many times - it's the nature of the game.  We'll be fine - as for me -
I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'

Adrian Devine had an impressive outing and left fielder Ken Griffey had 2 base
hits as the Marshallton Mad Hatters beat the Glenmoore Stableboys 6-4.
 
Marshallton had 4 runs cross the plate in the top of the 7th inning when they
had 4 base hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Doug Flynn who silenced
the stadium when he doubled plating two runs.  Glenmoore had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.  
 
The victory was credited to Devine(4-0) who went 4 innings, allowing no runs.
Devine got relief help from Rawly Eastwick who gained credit for his 32nd
save.  The losing pitcher was Gary Lavelle(5-1) in relief.

John Candelaria came through with a solid 8 and two third innings as the
Kimberton Firefighters topped the Eagle Eagles 5-2 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Kimberton won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3
runs on 4 base hits.  Bill Madlock led off and started the attack as he
doubled.  Bob Watson stepped up to the plate and he banged out a single.
Jerry Grote then delivered a single.  Manny Trillo got his turn next, but he
was a strikeout victim.  Frank Taveras stepped into the box and delivered a
one-base hit.  Taveras took second on the throw.  After another out, Taveras
came to the plate and suprised everyone by stealing home.  The teams had been
locked in a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.  
 
The win went to Candelaria(13-4) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. The
loss was charged to Don Sutton(11-7).  He gave up 5 runs and 10 hits in 8
innings.  
 
EAGLE AT KIMBERTON, 2nd

The Eagle Eagles bested the Kimberton Firefighters 4-1 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Eagle scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 2nd inning.  That was all Rick
Reuschel(13-8) needed.  Mike Marshall was great in relief and recorded his
3rd save.  
 
Dan Larson(4-3) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 6 hits and 9 walks in
8 and 1/3 innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT DEVAULT, 1st

At Great Valley Stadium, the Devault faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Lynn McGlothen(8-7) finally bested his Chester Springs
counterpart, Tom Seaver(10-5), 3-1.
 
Devault wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning as they scored 2
runs on 4 base hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Bruce
Sutter came throught with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 22nd save.
 
Seaver was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT DEVAULT, 2nd

Larry Parrish had 2 base hits at Great Valley Stadium as the Devault
Dynamiters beat the Chester Springs ballclub in 10 innings 3-2.
 
Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings.  Devault came out on top
in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Tim McCarver cracked a solo
homerun making Devault victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.
Devault totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Butch Metzger(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Charlie Hough(6-6) was hit with the loss in relief.  He
surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.  
 
Jim Ghoulach was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along
along lately, 9 losses in our last 10 games.  That won't get it done.'

Al Oliver had 4 hits at Hopewell Field as the Elverson Squires belted the
league doormat Guthriesville Golddiggers 11-1.
 
Elverson scored 5 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they had 5 base hits.
The early run support proved sufficient for Mike Garman(1-4) and Elverson.
That was all the run support Garman required.  Elverson finished with 13 hits
while Guthriesville ended up with 8.  
 
Garman got help from Elias Sosa who was credited with his 4th save.  The
losing pitcher was Jim Kaat(5-16).  He allowed 6 hits and 1 walk in 1 and 2/3
innings.  
 
 
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

The Honey Brook Beekeepers edged the Lionville ballclub at Foster Field 6-5.
 
Honey Brook took the lead for keeps in the 4th inning when they tallied 3 runs
on 3 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Ollie Brown who silenced
Foster Field as he belted a three-run homer.  Lionville threatened in the 9th
but Honey Brook was able to put down the rally.  
 
Doc Medich(4-7) allowed 4 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. John D'Acquisto preserved the game for Medich, recording his his
1st.  Randy Jones(19-5) took the loss.  
 
Despite losing Jon Brams was optimistic after the game.  'We'll get over this
one.  Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't.  Any one of a
dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
