Right fielder Dave Kingman knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Hickory Park as
the Devault Dynamiters came back dramatically to top the Eagle Eagles 7-5.
 
Devault came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
plating 3 runs on 4 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Garry Maddox keyed
the rally when he laced a base-knock.  Bob Bailey got his chance to keep
things going, but he went down on strikes.  Kingman then bombed a two-run
dinger.  Bill Robinson followed next and he blasted a solo shot.  Richie Zisk
came up to bat and hit a single.  This was the kind of game that many fans
love as the lead changed hands 5 times.  
 
Jon Matlack(9-5) got the win allowing 5 runs in 8 innings. Bruce Sutter earned
his 18th save.  Gene Pentz(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief.  
 
'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Pentz said. 'The bottom line is I didn't
get the job done.  Our fans deserve better than this.'
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

J.R. Richard went 7 and one third solid innings and right fielder Ken Griffey
had 4 hits as the spectacular Marshallton Mad Hatters topped the dreadful
Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-2 at Four Dogs Field.
 
The game started off with Marshallton taking the lead in the first scoring 2
runners on 3 hits.  Guthriesville had a chance in the 9th but they came up
short.  
 
The victory went to Richard(8-7) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1 run.
Rawly Eastwick earned the save, his 27th.  Jim Kaat(3-14) was the loser.  He
allowed 3 runs and 8 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
 
GLENMOORE AT HONEY BROOK

The Honey Brook Beekeepers bested the Glenmoore Stableboys by a 4-1 score
at The Nest.
 
Ray Burris(7-15) pitched well for Honey Brook in their victory.  He was
reached for 6 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  For the game Honey
Brook out-hit Glenmoore 12-6.  
 
Burris got help from Santo Alcala who was credited with his 3rd save.  The
loss was charged to Mickey Lolich(5-7).
 
LIONVILLE AT ELVERSON

Steve Carlton held Elverson scoreless on just 3 hits as the very talented
Lionville team bested the Elverson Squires 3-0 at French Creek Park.
 
Carlton(11-4) was on top of his game.  He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and
no walks in 9 innings.  The Elverson offense proved no trouble in the bottom
of the 9th.  
 
John Denny(5-11) was hit with the loss.  'Carlton just dominated us' losing
pitcher Denny said.  'Hopefully we can get to him the next time around'
