Dave Parker had 2 base hits as the Eagle Eagles defeated the Marshallton Mad
Hatters 5-2 at Four Dogs Field.
 
Rick Reuschel(7-6) pitched well for Eagle in their victory.  He allowed 4 hits
and 5 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings reducing his ERA from 4.78 to 4.47.
Marshallton threatened in the 9th but Eagle was able to put down the rally.
 
Randy Moffitt recorded his 16th save.  J.R. Richard(5-5) was the loser.  He
pitched 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 9 walks.

Left fielder Gary Matthews slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at The Nest as the
Elverson Squires lost a heartbreaker to Honey Brook Beekeepers 4-3.
 
Honey Brook won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  After
two were out Johnnie Lemaster ripped a base-hit.  Cesar Geronimo came next
and he singled.  Andre Thornton then doubled making Honey Brook victorious to
the delight of the the home town crowd.  Honey Brook out-hit Elverson for the
game, 12-4.  
 
The victory was credited to Tug McGraw(4-3) who went 2 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Jim Barr(6-6) took the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Bill Robinson had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Devault Dynamiters bested the
Glenmoore Stableboys 6-5 at Bentley Stadium.
 
Robinson had a big day against Glenmoore.  He doubled bringing in a run in the
1st inning, delivered a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, popped a two-run
clout over the fence in the 5th inning and lined a base-hit in the 9th
inning.  Glenmoore tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  
 
Jon Matlack(6-2) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Bruce
Sutter got the save, his 13th.  John Montefusco(7-5) ended up with the loss.
He gave up 6 runs and 15 hits in 9 innings.  
 
Barry Bentley was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts.  If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Center fielder Dave Winfield smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Chester
Springs club defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers 6-4 at Hopewell Field.
 
Winfield provided the offensive punch.  He smashed a two-run homer in the 3rd
inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 8th inning.  Chester
Springs had a total of 9 hits for the game.  
 
The win went to Tom Seaver(9-2) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Seaver got help from Charlie Hough who earned his 14th save.  Bob
Apodaca(4-3) absorbed the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 9 innings.
 
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Seaver said.  'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE

In a close game it was the Kimberton Firefighters 5, Lionville 3 at
Foster Field.
 
Kimberton jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they came up
with 3 runs on 5 hits.  For the game Kimberton out-hit Lionville 13 to 5.
 
Larry Demery(4-2) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Skip
Lockwood was credited with his 14th save.  Randy Jones(11-2) was the losing
pitcher.  He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits and 1 walk.
