In a close game it was the Eagle Eagles 6, the Elverson Squires 4 at Hickory
Park.
 
Eagle had 4 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The crucial
at-bat was provided by Dave Parker who electrified Hickory Park when he hit a
single bringing in two baserunners.  Eagle finished with 8 hits in the
victory.  
 
Randy Moffitt(5-5) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. The
loss was charged to Ed Halicki(5-7).  He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up
7 hits and 3 walks.

In a game for the baseball purist, Brent Strom(10-4) and Doc Medich(3-4)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Marshallton Mad Hatters finally emerged
victorious over Honey Brook Beekeepers, 1-0.
 
Marshallton drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
plating an isolated run.  That early scoring was all that Strom needed.
Marshallton managed only 5 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Strom got help from Rawly Eastwick who was credited with his 21st save.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT KIMBERTON

Cesar Cedeno had 2 base hits at Kimberton Fairground as the Guthriesville
Golddiggers beat the Kimberton Firefighters in 11 innings 2-1.
 
The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings.  Guthriesville won it in the
11th inning.  Bobby Tolan ripped a single.  After an out was recorded, Barry
Foote stepped in and he reached on an error.  Cedeno proceeded to steal third
base.  Keith Hernandez followed and he was walked intentionally to load the
bases.  Guthriesville continued their aggressive style with another stolen
base.  One out later, Enos Cabell came to bat and was walked intentionally to
load the bases.  Kimberton had 9 hits in the game while Guthriesville had 6,
but Guthriesville had the more timely hits.  
 
Ken Forsch(2-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was John Candelaria(12-2).  He pitched
10 and 1/3 innings allowing only 6 hits and 2 walks.

The Glenmoore Stableboys edged the Chester Springs ballclub at Historic
Village Park 7-6.
 
Glenmoore came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 8th inning
with 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Larry Herndon led off and he lashed a
single.  Willie Crawford stepped up next and he laced a base-knock.  Dave
Concepcion then lined a one-base hit.  Willie Montanez was up next and he
grounded into a double play.  Charlie Hough then unleashed a wild pitch.  Ted
Sizemore contributed to the rally and drew a walk.  Roy Staiger next to the
plate and he drew a walk.  Gene Garber pitched a perfect ninth to earn his
17th save.  
 
Mickey Lolich(4-5) got the win allowing 6 runs in 8 innings. Dale Murray(0-4)
absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and no walks in 1 and 2/3
innings.

The reeling Devault Dynamiters pitchers essentially took the day off at Great
Valley Stadium as the powerful Lionville team offense erupted for 11 runs
while Randy Jones(14-3), with relief help from Tom Walker, held Devault to 1
run.
 
Lionville took the lead for good in the 3rd inning scoring 3 runners on 3
hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Lionville had 14 hits for
the afternoon while Devault had 5.  
 
Lynn McGlothen(7-6) was the loser.  He was knocked around by Lionville,
allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
