It was a laugher out at Kimberton Fairground.  The Eagle Eagles squad ripped
Kimberton pitching for a total of 13 runs.  Don Sutton(9-5), with relief help
from Ramon Hernandez, held Kimberton to 1 run.
 
Sutton looked very much in control throughout the day.  He didn't allow much,
just 6 hits and 6 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.  For the game Eagle out-hit
Kimberton 17 to 6.  
 
Larry Demery(5-4) was charged with the loss.  Eagle scored big getting 6 runs
off him in 2 and 2/3 innings.
 
MARSHALLTON AT GLENMOORE

Gary Nolan went 8 and one third solid innings and third baseman Ron Cey had 2
base hits as the Marshallton Mad Hatters defeated the Glenmoore Stableboys 4-1 
at Bentley Stadium.
 
Nolan(7-7) was very good in the win. He allowed only 4 hits and 1 walk in 8
and 1/3 innings.  Marshallton had 7 hits for the night while Glenmoore had 4.
 
Nolan got relief help from Rawly Eastwick who gained credit for his 22nd save.
John Montefusco(9-6) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 4 runs and 7
hits in 8 and 2/3 innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT DEVAULT

Darrell Evans lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI as the Devault
Dynamiters defeated the Chester Springs club 9-3 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Devault jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they came
up with 2 runs on 2 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Del Unser who
electrified Great Valley Stadium when he lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run.  Both teams totaled 11 hits on the night.  
 
The win was credited to Joaquin Andujar(3-5) who went 6 and 1/3 innings
allowing 3 runs. Tom Griffin recorded his 1st save.  The loss was charged to
Phil Niekro(8-7).  He served up 3 gopher balls in 6 innings.  
 
 
ELVERSON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Andy Messersmith didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the Guthriesville
Golddiggers bested the Elverson Squires 9-3 at Hopewell Field.
 
Messersmith(4-8) gave a fine effort for Guthriesville.  He went 7 and 2/3
innings and surrended up 3 hits and 7 walks.  The right-handed Messersmith
lost his chance for a no-hitter when Fred Kendall singled with nobody out in
the 6th inning.  Overall Guthriesville out-hit Elverson 11 to 4.  
 
John Denny(4-10) was hit with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits
and 3 walks in 6 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

Dave Cash had 2 base hits at Foster Field where the Honey Brook Beekeepers
beat the Lionville ballclub 4-3.
 
Honey Brook jumped on top of Lionville in the 6th inning scoring one runner.
After an out was recorded, Gary Matthews blasted a solo shot.  Lionville
tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  
 
Ray Burris(6-12) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Darold
Knowles preserved the game for Burris, recording his 2nd save.  Max Leon(0-1)
absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 4
innings.  
 
Jon Brams was clearly disappointed after the game.  'It was a manager's
nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'
