Right fielder Andre Thornton had 2 base hits as the Honey Brook Beekeepers
rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Eagle Eagles, 10-8.
 
Honey Brook came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th
inning when they scored 4 runs on 5 hits.  The Eagle batters went down meekly
in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Tug McGraw(6-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Ramon
Hernandez(0-3) was the loser in relief.  'I pin this one on my own
shoulders,' Hernandez said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done.
Our fans deserve better than this.'
 
GLENMOORE AT DEVAULT

The Glenmoore Stableboys had an easy time of it at Great Valley Stadium
defeating the reeling Devault Dynamiters 7-2.
 
Don Gullett(3-5) pitched well for Glenmoore in their victory.  He allowed 6
hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.  Overall Glenmoore out-hit Devault 10-6.
 
Gullett was helped out by Gene Garber who recorded his 15th save.  Tom
Griffin(2-4) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 1 hit
without retiring a batter.  
 
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Phil Niekro(8-6) and Jim Kaat(3-12) treated the Chester Springs fans to a fine
pitching duel at Historic Village Park.  The Chester Springs ballclub
eventually emerged as victors over the Guthriesville Golddiggers 2-1.
 
Chester Springs wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
came up with 2 runs on 2 hits.  That was all the runs Niekro needed.  After
the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.  
 
Charlie Hough recorded the save, his 18th.
 
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

First baseman Ed Kranepool lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI at
Kimberton Fairground as the Lionville club beat the Kimberton Firefighters 8-7.
 
Lionville had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 4 runners
on 3 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Jerry Morales who silenced the
stadium when he stroked a base-hit bringing in two baserunners.  Kimberton
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.  
 
Ken Sanders(3-1) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Tom Walker recorded his 1st save.  Mike Wallace(1-2) was tagged with
the loss in relief.  He surrendered 5 hits and 1 walk in 1 and 2/3 innings.
 
'We won because we did the little things right.' Jon Brams said after the
game.  'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
